    Another eBay question....

I have a buyer claiming that an item I sold them is faulty and they want a refund. The item I sold them was brand new and sealed, so if it is faulty, then I had no way of knowing. They are demanding a refund and have said that they have already found the same item from another seller.

I believe that they have just simply found it cheaper and now want to return mine.

I have a couple more of this item and have said that if they return the original item to me in the same condition they received it and providing it is actually faulty, then I will send them a replacement.

They are arguing that I should just refund them - what do you think?

I tell you 1 thing for free Pay-Pal will back them....they always do. Just wait to get you item back and refund and block em.....sorry to say Pay-Pal is always for the buyer NOT THE SELLER!

Yeap, I agree. Paypal has screwed me over many a time. Often they agree with me and say the buyer doesn't have a case and then a few days later refund them.

Like you say they obviously have bought elsewhere so are trying it on.

The first thing I would do is look to see if they have anything for sale, nothing like a bit of leverage.
Ultimately though if it went to a claim you would have to refund them so your probably best biting the bullet and ask them to return it, hey you never know they may be stupid enough to send it unrecorded:D

Check up on the distance selleing regulations, if your a business, or selling goods as part of a buisness which you are if your selling several of one item brand new, then the terms you sell the goods at include the following
the buyer can reject the goods for ANY reason and they dont have to give a reason within 7 days after RECEIPT of the goods.
If you fail to accept this they can take you to court and win easily, its the law.

As already stated above, PayPal WILL take their side and refund the money so save yourself a lot of time and trouble and just take it back, refund their money only once the goods have arrived back with you, ie if they dont send it recorded or special delivery, they wont know its arrived or not
    (read that last bit carefully)

as above, presumably you are a business so the DSR's apply.
What is it you are selling?

Maybe they have the item already that they bought from you and theirs was faulty and have swapped their faulty one with the one they bought from you, then have said they have bought elsewhere so they can get their money back instead of another item ?

It sucks paypal side with the buyer without taking a proper look to see who is at fault and what to do next...

One of these threads seems to pop every five minutes, I think you dont have much of a choice tbh & he/she probably knows it.
