I got a phone off ebay quite recently and got it delivered along with another phone in which I ordered from the same seller at the same time.

Phone A works but Phone B doesn't.

I was advised B had a 'loose charger port' by a phone expert. I alerted the seller but he says that I need to send the phone back for a refund. Fair enough.

But I'm a little apprehensive of stories of 'I sent this back and got nothing'. What can I do to protect myself against that? What should I reasonably expect in terms of refund of postage, bearing in mind that I got quite a substantial postage discount by purchasing both together. And I'm also wary of the fact that the seller may state that they find nothing wrong with the phone as a 'loose charger port' is a very intermittnt type of problem.

Any advice is appreciated. I'm an ebay n00b

Reasonable cost is to send it back with insurance and proof of delivery.

Post it Recorded Delivery and then give the seller the postal cost to refund back to you.

Forget about what you paid for postage since it was discounted.

If you paid via Paypal you can open a dispute with them if the seller does not refund you after you have returned the item. Make sure you send it recorded so you have a tracking number. Keep all emails between you and the seller which you can use a evidence, but hopefully you won't have to go down that route.

Good luck with it

Thanks for the replies

I'm guessing it's unreasonable to ask for return postage from the seller first before sending it off?

It's not unreasonable to ask, but good luck in trying!
