changed it, cheers

You need to find out what the accident damage is really and the quality it has been repaired to - if minor then it might be OK, it major then you might find that the car won't ever feel 100%.

Why would you want to buy a car that has suffered accident damage?

There are plenty that have not been accident damaged.

Why a Fiat of all things, not the most reliable car on the road.

The Punto isn't too bad reliability wise, plenty of minor things but most won't leave you standing. The engine is a non-interference engine so if the timing belt snaps, you only have to replace the timing belt. The engine was shown to go on for a long time in its many guises, but does have a weak head gasket, but out of memory that's mainly an issue for the 1.2 16v 80 bhp they used to have.

I would suggest you look at www.fiatforum.com fur proper comments.

:?

i'd leave it then, it's probably been repaired by a non professional  or it will show up on an HPI check as insurance claimed on

Indeed, if you have a small bump in it, you may well find that it is full of body filler.

Find a low mileage, well serviced Jap car, you will not go far wrong.

It's a Trade Seller: mike smith and NO mention of a F(D)SH which would verify the mileage  IF it's so clean I would want a FULL history book ;-)

Whats F(D)sh  ?
Hmm okay, thanks

They mean "full dealer service history", but I would certainly not look for that in a 7 year old+ car, "FSH" is important and can often be better.

Do an RAC hpi check i think its only £5.00 will tell you what crash its had
Write off etc.

Why on earth are you still looking at Fiats ?

Do you really want a car that will cost you a fortune in repairs?

They are cheap for a reason, nobody wants them.

Some accident repairs are ok as the damage may have been entirely cosmetic and if repaired properly should be no concern (usually cat D) however if considering a car like this you need to have the details of the damage and the repair before considering it any further.

With regards to mileage, it's not always that great an indicator of the car - a car which has spent its time being driven gently on the motorway with a higher mileage may be better than one with a much lower mileage that's spent it's time being thrashed around town. Several times when shopping for a new car last time I was surprised to find newer cars with half the mileage in poorer condition than my existing car.
