    Anti Virus for New Laptop

    It's on Windows 7, AVG still ok to use? Have it on my pc running on Vista and never had a problem.
    Thanks in advance

    I recently changed from AVG to MSE (microsoft security essentials)

    I think it's a matter of choice really - I changed after AVG missed a really old basic virus which proceded to trash my laptop - I'm not saying MSE would have done any better but worth a try.

    The best antivirus defence seems to be good backups!

    Thanks, is that also free to download?

    Avg works on my netbook running windows 7.

    Try it legally for 30 days and see.

    If it is not ok then try;

    zone alarm
    mcaffe

    both have worked on my netbook running w7 in the past

    Hope this is of use.

    Thanks for that richp, although at a very quick scan it looks to be xp users with the problem? Is that what your daughters netbook is running on? I'll be using windows 7, but I'll have a proper read through that link you gave, thanks

    I love AVAST works well on windows 7 and is freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    if you want free basic protection only

    Avira, Avast and MSE score very highly.

    AVG is def to be avoided now.
    very low success rates with their current one
