    Ants in the house already...............

We have suffered from ants in our house for the past 11 years and this year they are out and its only March. I must of killed 25 already today. Anyone else get these little pests. It was my childs medicine they were after and i am on a thing called pestport where by i can call the council out 3 times a year for a price of £40 every year. We have them in the cavaties of our walls.

I had loads of ants last yr,bought 2 packs of ant bait traps from asda and had no more problems,my sisters house had been infested for a few yrs and they worked for her

Don't tread on an ant he's done nothing to you, there might come a day when he's treading on you. Don't tread on an ant you'll end up black and blue, you cut off his head, legs come looking for you!

We used to have similar problem where we used to live the first year we were there we spotted a couple in the kitchen on the side though nothing of it went out for the afternoon came back few hours later and the sideboard was full of them everywhere.

I've heard the 'any white powder' trick works.

I'm sure this won't be of any help if you are that infested though marshallka! I hoover them up!!!!

from what I have read when they colonise inside the cavity walls it is very hard to get rid of the nest due to its location

try this its cheap to make and works well, make some dough using flour and water make sure its sticky make it in a ball shape and leave it outside your house and watch the ants jus dissapear my nan told me this and it really works. hope it works for u.

We have little black and yellow ladybirds They dont't look at all freindly I think they are too small for the harlequin Ladybird so far 18 since Friday!

we have had them for the last two years, have managed to fill the area where they used to get in so fingers crossed this year. but then it is grest fun hoovering them up when they do come out lol

When I redid the kitchen I plastered all the area where they were coming in and the year later they still make a appearance. Another one we used to get at our old house was slugs used to get up in the morning and see slug trails all in the hall not nice do not know wear they got in through vents!!!!

I am a stokie as well. Whereabouts are you:thumbsup:

    biddulph U?

I get them in sometimes in the summer mths through my back door which is directly in the living room. They easy to spot as I have laminated flooring so we always spot them.I try keep floor clean, cos children spill drinks, floor gets sticky and atrracts them.
My Mum usually watches where most coming from and boils kettle and pours it around, usually does the trick.
Yeh typical, you pay council tax then they want you to pay £40 for some scheme.

Thankfully we don't suffer with these, although I know people who do and they are very difficult to get rid of.

We have tried everything to get rid, we have had the pest control out lots of times and they said they were in the cavaties of the walls and a way to rid ourselves of them is to MOVE. Its really annoying when i have to take all these precautions from march through to october as regards sweets in the house and everything has to be in containers in the cupboards. Its very time consuming hoovering as well that i just leave the hoover plugged in half the time.

I know they can't harm you but it makes you feel dirty. Once my daughters clothes were full in the drawers and they were even in the gusset of her swimming costume.

We only really had them probably a couple of days, when they start to fly thats when the fun starts

Yeah, i know what you mean. Its vile on that day when the room is full of ants flying and dying. Our dogs have a field day.

we had the flying ones so bad the carpet walked!! anyway a friend said get poison from pet-shop(we had tried all the traps-sprays etc before) and the poison chased them up the cavity and into the bedrooms and they covered the lawn so we couldnt use that either!! so be careful! we paid the man from the council and he sprayed once and that was it-all clear! not fair you have to pay but it has worked we had it done as a last resort 2006 and he said get it done early 2007 and we hadnt any ants 2007!!!

we pay the council for a scheme called pestport each year. It costs us £40 for 3 visits a year which is cheaper than the £200 we used to pay for numerous visits by private firms. Just never called them this early

Agreed in principle, I have no respect for the MPAA etc which is why I hoist the Jolly Roger.

Not so easy as RR this one

I understand that if they showed you disrespect you'd tie them up and flail them, but that would be a bit too 'piratey', surely?

we used some white ants powder and it worked. i had flashbacks from the un chien andalou film ...

We have had them in the house for the last few days, and as it happens had just put some Nippon down to try and get rid of them before reading this. This has always worked in the past, normally kills the nest pretty quick (within a few days), so hopefully will work this time (and cheap, under £2)

But I don't ever recall getting them this early before.

The ones we will get in the summer are flying ants, which I know Nippon doesn't work with, so any good suggestions for those ?

Yeah but that sort of person don't drink or smoke, what do they do? Probably get off on being tied and beaten by flails ;-)
