    Thank you for your query regarding your BP640S

    I am sorry to hear of the problems you are experiencing. After looking into your query, I can confirm that there is currently a software issue with this player which means it is unable to connect to wifi, unfortunately.

    This will only be temporary and should be solved via a software update quite soon in the near future. It should be able to connect via LAN/Ethernet cable for now and you can also check for software updates using a LAN cable.

    If you do not have one and you would like us to let you know when an update has been released to fix this problem or potentially send it out to you on a disc, please give us the following information so we can add you to a database for this issue:

    Model number, serial number, Post code, first line of address and contact telephone number. We can then make a file for you and alert you when the update has been released. 

    You can provide this information by replying to this email by clicking the more questions link below.

    my gf bought me the Blueray player for Christmas. I've tried everything to connect it to wifi. Today I got the above response, should I just sit it out and wait for the update ?

    Is BP640S an new product you have just purchased? if so I would return it and get your money back you were sold an item that was out of date.

    no, request an immediate solution. they are saying the wifi will not work until a new software update.
    thats bull****, it should work out of the box. get a refund, buy another

    it was manufactured in November 2014. when I plugged it in it automatically updated itself over the Internet and then afterwards disconnected and won't connect now

    Try this page it has the software updates. Use a Flash drive to install onto dvd from your PC.........good luck

    Thank you for your email.


    I am sorry about the issues you have been having with the player. As per our previous email, there is a slight issue with the software which is causing this problem - in this case the only way to resolve this would be to send out an update to fix the issue - a repair would not even work in this case I am sorry to say.


    All we can do is apologise for the inconvenience, and ask for your patience while an update is made to resolve the issue, this should be forthcoming soon.

    Dear Chris,


    I really don't think that your response to my issue compensates me for the loss of enjoyment from my LG product, distress I have suffered and the time I have put in to try to get some answers from yourselves over the past 2 weeks.

    You haven't even given me a date or an estimated date for the software fix. This was a gift to me, it is only 2 weeks old and I registered the Warranty online. Because it is an LG Smart Bluray Player that it's intended use was for the Smart services via wifi I believe that I am covered under the 'Sale of Goods Act 1979' I would be very grateful if you would contact me with a solution to this problem.

    I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Mine won't detect either, have you wrote to LG ?

    Just went on live chat.. Got the same answer, will need a software fix, expected late Jan early Feb

    Thanks for posting this info here. Bought this player for my brother at Christmas and he reported it had stopped connecting online. Was at his a couple of weeks ago and found this thread. Plugged it in to the router connected straight away and sure enough a firmware update. Updated it, disconnected from router and rebooted. Popped it back on wireless and it's working again. Cheers.
