Any Car Mechanics on here ??

I've got an Audi A3 which when I get to speed makes a whistleing noise which sounds like it's coming from the air vents. I pulled the vents out and can't see anything obvious. I also took the air filter/box out and there was a little bits of plastic wrapper in there. I thought that was the problem but it still does it. The whistle noise is worse if I open a window and it does it if I have the fans on or off so I'm guessing something is stuck somewhere - maybe a bit more plastic.

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated !

Is it a diesel? Could be a split turbo pipe

Yeah it is a diesel. It just doesn't sound like a turbo whistle sort of noise. I just don't know how to track to pipes all the way through or where something could have got in!

If it's got a turbo then the bearings could be going or maybe a vacuum leak on an oil breather or something,Try revving whilst stationary, If it doesn't do it whilst stationary then it'll most probably be something else.

If it only does it at speed then it'll probably be something else, Have you had a new windscreen?, Could that have become unbonded?.

    A/C pump?.

It doesn't do it when I'm stationairy no, It seems to only doing it when I'm up towards 70mph. I had a new AC pump fitted but it still does it whether the AC is on or not. I did have a new windscreen fitted yes and I thought it was that, I've had them out twice and they are adiment it's not the screen ! I'm just sure it got to be some plastic in the air flow system somewhere as I found what looked like a cigarette wrapper in the air box. Just not no mechanic and didn't wanna start taking things to a million pieces lol! Just want to try and get to the bottom of it !

Is it a whistle or a hum? Could be a wheel bearing?

You're probably correct, could be a multitude of things, It'll probably be the only real option, taking it apart. Frustrating.

It's more of like a whistle as if something is flapping around

Sounds really stupid but if you blew a ballon up then let the air out but stretching it that sort of noise

youtu.be/Ghv…3uM You can just about hear the sound !

Sounds like a boost pipe mate, common on diesel engines.

I'm guessing you have no mechanic mates? Or maybe a friend of a friend is one?
Pipes don't cost much its the labour garages charge.
But whistle is a common sign, if might of just came a little loose but more than likely split

Have you checked the pollen filter and housing?. I would also chck the door and windows seals.

You can get a smoke bomb to see if you have any air leaks.
