I wish you luck in your quest for a nice smile again!

Go abroad, european dentistry is much cheaper and have the same if not better standard. Will involve a lot of research thhough

a smile with teeth staying in is the aim, not hoping for much more. thx for your kind words.

I think the price of implants is a joke. The dentists must rub there hands together when they find out you're interested in having them. I'm in a similar situation, I'd love to have one of my front teeth done. I had it knocked out a couple of years ago and have a denture, but hate having it in as it makes me gag. I asked the dentist is there anything else he can recommend and a big smile came on his face as he told me about implants. He quoted me between £1600 and £1800, at first I thought he was joking!!

I've heard that in Europe the same treatment would be about £600.

i know the plate and the plastic of it makes me gag too. and worse its the 3 front ones. i wish i could find somewhere in europe to have them done, would feel its worth saving for a reasonable amount.
anything you find out please let me know. i guess its the dentists suppliers than rule the cartel on this one more than the dentists themselves.

Dental implantation is fairly advanced practice and dentists need to go on training courses to be able to learn the techniques. I believe that certain university dental schools run such courses through associated dental hospitals, and obviously they need patients for this. I wonder if that might be a avenue to research? Try ringing your local dental hospital and/or school and see what they say.

I know your frustration and anguish, I had one my front ones sorted out with a surfboard and driven into my skull some years back and it now needs further work some of the prices quoted were truly shocking!, you've only got to look in the dentists car park to see this is a very lucrative trade to be in. I'll probably take the risk and go abroad, good luck in your search.

i know max its scary. just cost me £50 to get them cleaned here today. unreal. have had a bridge in from a similar type problem as a kid, but its falling out apparently and only an implant will do since i get ill with plates.
i only wish i had some research skills or some family living somewhere foreign to check it out. typical cruel life. trying to come to terms with idea of no front teeth. not happy.

might try that but only have one in NI and not sure they really great, but not sure, am that desperate its worth a try. think they only take rare dentists referrals and my dentist wont play ball. old school style. its nhs they dont care just churn em out. am so down about it. but hey cant change it so gotta get on.

yes i know its hard to get into, and would hate it myself due to mega phobia from previous butchers in the field, leaving bits of things behind. methinks its the suppliers who ripping them off more than the dentists.
the case for me is my teeth roots are useless and even my crowns gonna fall out eventually like as not. she even said no point in putting any crowns in. so therefore only implants screwed in would work. the bridge at the front weakened my teeth so much will fall out before my regular teeth apparently so thats my main worry.

would save up to go abroad if knew where to go, if only for those front few. eventually. short of finding someone to be a guinea pig for. doubt if anyone find a better pig for the job than my mush. lol. trying to stay positive even after two days in a row in the dentists, and with a phobia that aint good.

thanks for any tips etc, the hunt continues.
