Any eBay Paypal experts out there? Returns policy!

I have purchased a gearbox from eBay (i know you don't have to say fool) It was listed as a 206 1.4 automatic gearbox. from 1.4 auto kfx 2001 ( i asked if it would fit a 206 1.4 lx 2002 model) the reply i got was yes, all the sensors are still there so it would just be a case of connecting them all up. I purchased it safe with the knowledge it was the correct one. On reciept on the gearbox the garage informs me that it isn't the correct one and is possibly from a 1999 model which isn't compatable with mine, sensors are different and none of the brackets match. The seller has said he will refund me the total cost i have paid, but wont pay for the return £60ish. i have gone through the eBay resolution. (His returns policy was clear No return postage will be paid if the item is purchased in error.) But as it was them that misled me into buying, there should be some protection for this?
Just want to know if anyone else has been in a similar situation and the steps they took.

Common sense would dictate he should stump up the cost of return postage, however Paypal and eBay policies can't be relied upon to provide a fair resolution. Best bet is to ring Paypal and talk to a person, who may empathise and allow you to claim the whole cost back.

Looks like your £60 out of pocket

I know thats what im saying, the seller refuses to let me deliver the item back to them. This would save me around £30. He says because i have opened a dispute against him, he wants it delilvered by a courier, he wont supply a name of a courier that he uses, or even the weight of the item, as i have no way of weighing it and all of the online couriers want a overall weight.

I will be in contact with them Monday. the garage that is repairing the car managed to source another gearbox for me, but they have added an extra £170 to the repair for the privilage.
