I have an FM transmitter running from 2 x AAA that I want to run from a netbook - how fussy is this likely to be? ie. If I were to connect 5v USB power to it - would it die?

If it would - how can I make it... umm.. not!?

Cheers - rep as always!

since 2 aaa will be 3v and usb is 5v you would need to add a resistor
or enjoy the burning smell you would probably get lol

use this to find out
metku.net/ind…eng

put the first box at 5v the middle 1 at 3v and the bottom at whatever mah it needs

I think that USB is limited to 100mA, if that is enough to drive your device then you could try a TS2950CT-3.3 from ]Maplin, you will also need to add a 0.22uF capacitor between the output and the ground pin, your maplin geek will tell you which pin is which, should coust abot £2 all in.
