Done quite a bit of DIY electrics as I'm sure others have too, what advice do you need?

Got a light on my kitchen ceiling, which takes 4 GU10 bulbs. I've currently got 4 LED bulbs in it but recently one has blown (which i've replaced) and now another has started to flicker. Thats not the only problem though, ive now noticed that when the light is switched OFF at the wall, 2 of the lights are still lit but very very dim (around 5% lit i'd say). Last night was the first ive noticed this so dont know if theyve always been like this. Thought that they may just be cooling down so turned the light off via the main fuse box to check and they went completely out when i flicked the switch but still come back on again when i flip it back on!!

Any ideas? Could it be dangerous leaving them like this overnight?

In our bedroom we have a light switch at each end of the room, if I use a low energy bulb that glows also (its ok with traditional type bulbs). Do you have two switches for the same light where this problem is happening.

    no, just the one

So, its just down to the type of bulb then really? Nothing dangerous about it?

If the switch is off the light should be off. Most odd.

When I moved house late last year, I took down the ceiling fans in the bedrooms and just put up a bit of flex with a socket on it and put an energy efficient bulb in it.
    This did the same thing.
I spent a fair bit of time using Google but as I was moving out I didn't look into it too much.

I did see that some early Philips bulbs had this problem and I think I saw a link somewhere where they were talking about the wiring being round the wrong way.

Heya just got home and saw badass's message, right did this start happening when you replaced the normal gu10's with the led gu 10's?

Im thinking its a wiring fault, one thing to try is putting your old bulbs back in and seeing if that happens to them, if so then we've proved the wirings fine.

Oh and another question, did you put this light up yourself?

No the father in law done it but hes done a lot of em before for me and does a lot of his own.

He took the light down to check the wires and i noticed there was a Green and Brown wire not connected to the light and he just said 'you dont need to connect them, thats just to earth it'!!!

Never noticed it before with the old bulbs and no longer have them to try.
All 4 of them are glowing.
