    Any Gardening Experts Out There?

Recently laid new turf at the front and left a small segment about a 1 metre arc for plants, dont know to much about plants, but there are several large conifers next to the area so i assume they will take up most of the water, there is plenty of sum there and looking for some height as well as small and medium sized plants, i know its a small space so nothing to big or that will grow alot, any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Conifers at the back to give some height, go for ones that will grow slowly to about 4 or 5 ft and in different colours (yellows and greens), then get some hardy flowering shrubs for the front. B&Q do some great ranges, but did round your local garden centre and you can pick up some great deals.

With such a small space and a very formal garden I would say to go for one single but special plant. A topiary yew or a japanese maple or a Sorbus like 'Joseph Rock'.

    +1

I would have had either the same but a much bigger arc, a few arcs down the side or maybe a central circle. But each to their own I suppose. Looks nice.

i admit its not much of a garden, but its not like were goin to be sitting in it, just thought instead of all turf a few plants would look good, was looking at those japanse maple but they seem abit big. thanks for the ideas though.

Make a great putting green so how about some sand or a water hazard?

I think its a very nice garden, goal at one end and penalty spot at the other. Its looks like a single skin brick wall, so take care what you put in the corner does'nt grow and disturb that nice wall. Good luck.

Nice looking garden that ! Try some festuca's (types of grasses) and for the back a nice shrub like Nandina domestica (heavenly bamboo) although not a true bamboo but linked to the berberis growes to about 6ft max with nice green leaves turning red in autumn with small white flowers in spring/summer and of course nice sesonal planting to change the look as the year changes.

i would opt for planting some grass seed:thumbsup:

love the work you've done.. I'd go for a nice japanese maple in that small a space x x

I think its a spot made for a statue. Bricks over the wall if going begging would make a nice plinth. The large conifer next door may cause light and drought issues and closeness to wall would do the same. Just trying to think of an appropriate theme for the statue
