Any good experience with car warranty and GAP insurance compaies?

Looking at my option for car warranty and GAP insurance for a car purchase this month. The dealership prices seem very high but I guess at least they should be trouble free in the event of a claim. There seems to be a few options online that are cheaper but just wondering are they worth the money?

TIA, Mark

Depends what you're covered for really as all policies aren't necessarily the same . I was quite happy with the cover I got with my GAP insurance when I bought a new Citroen a few years back , but then again I've not had to claim . Covered me for 4 years and was able to add on to the 0% 4 years finance the car came with.

I had an extended warranty with The Warranty Group on my old car, bought it via the dealer and it lasted 3 years.

Paid out for a new turbo and a couple of other bits without any issues - only stipulation was that it had to have full service history, which wasn't checked on the smaller jobs but they did ask for a copy on the turbo replacement.

Car wasn't bought from main dealer, but TWG paid for all work to be done at main dealer, with the dealer invoicing TWG directly.

Is this a purchase or lease? I have only ever used GAP insurance when leasing - my last GAP was £180 for 3 years (car £29,000).

This is for a purchase of a 1 year old car (12k). The costs seem low enough to be a no brainer for the period I will keep the car (3-4 years) but I dont want a policy that won't pay out if I do have to use it

Ok, try this for GAP.. just be mindful that you usually have to take it out either before or at the same time you purchase the car.

Thanks I have just got a quote from there and its £200 to £250 for 5 years cover so longer cover and cheaper than the dealer is trying to get me to sign up on.....plus you can take it out upto 180 days after car purchase

I got a quote with gap123 and then got ala to beat it. Ala say they will beat any quote by 20% of the difference.
3 years back to invoice ended up costing me £72 I think. That was on monday

I also went with Ala - they seemed to be the most highly recommended. Can't recall how much it cost but it was certainly cheaper and more comprehensive than the one offered by the dealer!
