Any Hairdressers on here???

Desperate for some advice please.

I had my hair highlighted last night and it is way over bleached (think Peggy Mitchell!)- can I put something on it to tone it down?

Thanks

Not a hairdresser but when this happend to mine, i bought and put on a brown thinkng it would restore my natural colour.

OMG i looked ike Cruella Deville, it went matt black. I cried for days. I can lol at it now but at the time i was devasted.

Only thing you can really do, is call the hairdresser and explain. If it was a home job then call a salon and see what they can offer.

Hopefully a hairdresser will come along soon.

Nightmare isn't it. Just googling and the best advice i've read is to go to the Sally shops and get a toner on it.

I was contemplating getting a colour like you used but didn't want it going green - New Years Eve party tonight... not the best time for even more hair disasters, lol.

For hair dyed too dark i've just read this tip... use 3 parts lemon juice & 1 part conditioner put on hair for 5 - 15 min and wash out (strips out the colour).

Is it as bad as you think or just a big shock?I did mine the other week but once i'd changed my make up slightly, and got used to it, it wasn't as bad as i thought. I wouldn't risk anything but the hairdressers now in your case though, your hair will be very porous and probablly go all kinds of potty shades if you start putting things on top of the bleach. Good luck and hope you get it sorted.

What colour is your hair naturally ? Could you throw a few extensions in it and put it in an up do to disguise the brightness a little ?

my hair is dark brown naturally. There are far too many highlights in it which has made it look like a block colour of a funny yellowish blonde.

herbal essense rain forest the purple one

hiya,
not a hairdresser, but when i have mine done, the H/dresser always puts a toner on to take away the brassiness, usually only about £5 to have done in a salon (just toner no blow dry)

in between times i use clairol shimmer lights shampoo n cond

or john frieda do one forgot name but its a purple tube, boots or superdrug about £6 each for shamp n conditioner and they take away the brassiness, they are purple which suprised me at first, but its the purple that tones down the colour....

hope this helps abit x

As a hairdresser you should first contact the person who did this and explain the problem, she/he will hopefully be understanding and sort the problem out, but if not either check out another hairdresser or get a toner.

I was told by the company ( l'oreal I think ) when i called their helpline to go and buy a large head and shoulders. Evenly spread through my hair when it was dry, then wrap in a plastic bag for several hours.

I must admit it did work in principal however I didn't spread it evenly and ended up with leopard like spots :w00t:

The advice line told me head and shoulders strips paint, I tried it and it is actually true!

hat or wig should do trick:whistling:

as a hairdresser, yes a toner will tone the brasiness but it will in no way darken it or make it less subtle,
if you want it back darker you need to firstly ring the hairdresser and tell em or do it your self by putting on a copper colour first then a brown , x bet it doesnt even look that bad really , once yu ve got your makeup on and stuff we are always hard on our selves x hope u have good new year
