any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.

So I bought a new motorbike, picking it up on tuesday (59 plate .. yay!) Now I'm just really stuck with insurance.

Should I get Comprehensive? or Third party Fire & Theft? Comprehensive for me is around £500 and TP F&T is around £200 - £250 cheaper. Both have compulsary £500 excess, none voluntary.

What's the best thing to do?

Thanks guys/girls

Enjoy your new bike, id definatly go fully comp, but shop around to get the best price

I'd go fully comp, and remember to shop around. Try gocompare.com and comparethemarket.com and see if quidco or topcashback give any cashback as I know they do for car insurance.

If it's got lots of plastic then definitely get fully comp, it is pretty expensive to replace the fairings, hangers, brackets etc etc.
But if the bike is naked then fit a set of frame sliders and hopefully stay upright.
As it is brand shiny new go fully comp, there is nothing worse than the "sceech" sound of plastic scraping down tarmac and then knowing it will cost a fortune to fix. Been there done that!
What bike you getting? Loud and lary or sensible?

Fully Comp is basically if your involved in and accident (hope u never are) then insurance company will pay both you and the other party out, plus with some you get legal cover and if your seriously injured money towards recovery and medical bills...(read small print B4 you commit)

As for thirds party FT, insurance company pays out the other party.....you get diddly squat, and have to repair the vehicle/motorbike yourself.

so in long run for extra £250 fully comp seems better!

Thanks everyone, I'll leave some rep for all of you after I post this comment.

About the bike; I'm 19 and not allowed to drive anything over 125cc and 15bhp with a CBT. So it would be quite sensible .

It's a Yamaha YZF R125 - red and white :-D

yea, I do love the jacket! I've had it for a while and honestly it feels like coincidence that I ended up getting a Yamaha... also a Yamaha 'R' series because the jacket has 'R' on it too! lol.

Originally I wanted eithet an Aprilia RS125 or Hyosung R125. But the yamaha is too nice

put your excess up and go fully comp

should reduce the price
