any helpful suggestions

my kitten dont want her food she only wants my older cats food i did start puting my older cats stuff on the side but didnt last long maybe couple days till annie could jump up there. In the mornings i put annies down first so she eats most of that then put sophies down 10 mins later but she still scoffs most of it. Is it really bad for her to be eating cat food rather then kitten food? any tips?

Some advice for you - get a grip :-D

Op....I wouldn't worry about it too much just try and keep an eye on her, make sure she drinks plenty and doesn't get a poorly tummy. I'm sure if you ring the vet and ask for advice they will be able to help you.

you're confusing me. i thought apple (your moggie, right?) was your baby? who's sophie then?

hope you didn't read this bit before I changed it. if you did I'm sorry. I'm not at all animal-y.

Have you tried mixing in a little cat food in with her regular food, just for the taste?

fair play for you saying sorry people who arent "animal-y" as you put it dont understand how much our animals mean to us i dont intend to have kids, my cats are my babies so to make a joke bout one of them dying really isnt on its nearly as bad as making a joke out of someones child dying

Look at it this way.

If kittens couldn't cope with cat food, there wouldn't be any cats for us to have as pets any more. Not sure when kitten food first appeared, but I do know it hasn't always been around.

And speaking of cats, the vet told me I had to keep mine indoors. He's injured, and needs to rest his leg. But I kept him in for 48 hours and I just couldn't bear it any longer - he so desperately wanted out, and couldn't understand why I wouldn't let him go. Poor thing. But the real problem was, he just would not use the litter tray!! So after 48 hours I decided he'd end up with more problems if I didn't let him go ... just hoping I've done the right thing ... :?

Mod & Ed

Kitten food tends to be higher in protein than adult cat food, so upset tummy wise there shouldn't be a problem, there never used to be seperate kitten food, it's only come onto the market in the last 10yrs or so, I've bred siamese ( very choosy feeders ) for last 15+ yrs and have always had kittens who prefer adult food and some adult cats who've been difficult to wean off kitten food.
I presume its tin food you are giving, if it is it may be worth putting down some kitten size dry food, ( you can usually buy trial size packets from pet shops ), James Wellbeloved is quite good, quite a few of my babies have loved this over the years.
Hope this helps

Don't worry Bellows, my cats are my babies too. She should be fine eating adult food. Just make sure she doesn't seem to be going the loo a lot as the food might be a bit rich for her.
