It is, Horrible blighters, Their larvae eat all your grass roots etc.. Killed one of my gardens in around 2004 They killed loads of others in same area too.
I'd never seen these before yesterday, we had hundreds flying around the trees at the bottom of the garden.
Let Microsoft know, they introduce lots of bugs regularly during updates. They might get to deal with this one.

They are called the may beetle because that is when they are start appearing. They only live until July at the latest. I found one in my garden the other day and he had died already

Probably just laid it's eggs in your lawn. Next year you'll not have any grass
