Any help appreciated, need to come back before 2nd Jan. No preferences on what to visit or anything, than will like to go in our own car, 2 adults /2 kids. Just want to go to Paris. Thanks

If you are looking for locations? then it depends what you are after. if you want to see sights then stay in either 7 1 or 3. if you are taking kids i would not stay near les halles or anywhere in the north as its the "rougher area". But don't be alarmed by that its just like say brixton is to london. You can drive in from the highway from the top and head past the RER train lines to the center of paris. Driving around Paris is a nightmare, don't bother. they also have a ban on car usage in the center due to high emissions.

Star rated hotels are based on facilities so the difference between a 3 and a 5 will only be on if it has a pool, bar, restaurant or parking etc.. don't be put of by 3 star hotels.

If you want a nice family area then stay near the 5th district in the latin quarter. close enough to the sights and also family friendly but still busy at night to do things.

if you are looking for a good hotel deal hands down just use trip advisors in built comparison. Just put in paris and say minimum of 2 stars and ur dates and off you go.

Traveling around paris you will do by tube, same as the london tube essentially but no oyster card. buy packs of 10 tickets before you go as they are cheaper.

apart from that, go and see the sights and have fun

Thanks for ur time, it's very useful, have a lovely night

I second avoid your car, it's bad enough being a pedestrian trying to avoid getting hit at crossings. We stayed in bastille and it was a nice area, as it was away from the tourist bit it's more of an experience.

I would suggest a tour bus as well as you will get to see all the main sites and can hop off and on, they have a few different ones but it's better than going to all the places individually.

Take food and drink out with you, go to a supermarket and buy stuff as it's ridiculously expensive, it's 4 euros for a soft drink at tourist bits, you can easily pay quite a bit, even macdonalds isn't cheap and is double the price.

Beware scams as well, if people ask if you speak English just ignore them. There was loads of them and it's a scam to get money from you, there are lots of others too. Just be aware of your surroundings and keep valuables safe as the tourist areas are especially known for it.

If you want a good view of Paris visit the montparnasse rather than the eiffel tower, you get an amazing view of the city including the eiffel tower.

And last thing if you have time disneyland, again try and take food with you as the park is really pricy as it's around 14 euros for a simple meal at the cheapest places in the park.
