Why not just do a standing order to your mum's bank account and leave it in her name?

^^^^^^ this , as i dont think they will let you change details as that is the whole reason for credit checks , what if you defaulted a payment or something ? I would do what greg suggested .

Standing order's one way to do it - get a credit lock on the account to prevent you going over, then just send your mum that much cash each month, but you're probably better off long-term doing it yourself, and going for a low-end phone with a cheaper contract. This way, you're not dependent on your mum for the next two years, and it'll actually do some good for your credit rating.

My mum has 4 contracts in her name, we all just have a standing order into her bank every month.

No do not want to do that,I have the funds to get the contract just a bad credited rateing from the passed, Mum says it is ok to use her detail to get the contract but move the payment to my account after the contract is up and running

Have you been refused a contract?

Have you actually tried to get one? Contract phones are normally the easiest credit to get.

Phone the provider and ask if you can do it?

was offered a contract but they wanted a deposit of £150 for the phone which wqs refunded after 3 months my sister wanted one two but they wanted £150 as well for a deposit, Its just my mum as a better credit rateing than me and my sister, do not know why we pay the bills?

could not aford the two payments of £150

I'm no expert but your account will still show as bad credit rating even though you now have regular money coming in. That's why they didn't give you a contract in the 1st place. So even if you ask for it to be transferred after a few months it would be like asking for a new contract in your name. Hence still showing a bad credit rating.

it just that i want to change where the payment is coming from instead of my muns bank account another bank account can this be done or do you have to stick with the same account througout the contract?

Yes you can have your bank details instead of hers on there. My contract is in my mums name and comes out of my bank.

I'd have thought they'd do a credit check on any changes in bank accounts.

Try getting a free credit check if you are unsure why you can't get offered any credit, if you think there could be a mistake or someone has used your identity, now is the time to fix it, both for you and your sister.

If things need genuinely need improving in the credit rating area, why not start now with a cheaper model mobile for a couple of months and then buy the actual phone you want sim-free?

I remember being young and everyone was trying to go out of their way to give me more credit and despite now being made redundant for over 2 years, I still have huge credit accounts available to me, though I know things are different now.

You probably haven't got a bad credit rating though and was probably checked prior to the contract starting., the OP wants to swap after taking out the contract in someone elses name.

Only if the account has a good credit rating.

Finding the deposit will be a lot better in the long run, as it will start the process of repairing you credit rating. Can you not loan the £150 from your mum; after all, it should be repaid in 3 months.

Forgive me if I am wrong but a "Contract" of any type is an agrreement signed up for between two parties agreement.............If you then want to change it to another bank isan't that breaking the contract??

Not true because I got rejected for the contract on the same day. You can defo use any bank account for the payments. (I'm with virgin).

It's not really a case of that...I'm 19 and never been in debt or had loans etc but because i've never had credit, i can't get it for a phone contract or even a credit card. Everyone has to start somewhere don't they!

Your spot on, everyone needs to start somewhere, for you this would be finding the £150 deposit and building your own credit history. Seriously would be best for you in long run

Absolutely fine doing what you have suggested.

You're mum could alternatively mak you an authorized user on the account.

I wouldn't though, wouldn you rather a good credit rating?

Personally I would take out a 1 month rolling contract with your provider of choice and then upgrade that after 3 months.

That way the network will have records of you paying on time an therefore should have no problems upgrading your account to a phone tariff

You can do as you proposed, but also you can phone up and get the code to do the transfer of ownership after 3 months, so it will be under your name

Definitely the best option. Either that or borrow £150 off your mum and pay her back in 3 months.

You can't put a price on a good credit rating & this is 1 step to getting back on track if you have it in your name from the beginning

Errm, how? his credit rating will not have changed in that period, if anything it will be worse due to another search in a short period of time.
