Any port forwarding / network whizzes out there? Utorrent cannot accept incoming connections

    Banned
Just installed the Plexus Wireless-G CableDSL Router (ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132429/show_product_reviews)

Set up commodo to allow utorrent rhough the firewall as per rules on the comodo forums but still get a red circle indicating no-one can connect to me. I turned comodo off but no change so am sure its the new router not allowing utorrent to connect through it.

Downloading is fine. Someone has written the following on the ebuyer review section but I dont have a clue what they mean so cant really make the changes:-

There is no proper port forwarding with this router. Instead you have to configure a "virtual server" so that P2P/torrents and similar apps that need to initiate connections from the web to your computer will not suffer. This works perfectly well, but it is a little clumsy when you have more than one computer as you will have to fix yourself a fixed internal IP on the DHCP page of the router for each computer, and use a different port for each, even if they are useing the same software.

    Any help appreciated.

just a thought, when my router had probs with utorrent, i enabled unpp (universal plug n play) at the routers configuration, fine ever since.

    thanks but already enabled.

ok i checked your using comodo......

    open up the command center
    click firewall
click define a new trusted application
browse till you find the utorrent
    click apply

do you know which port it wants to enter on ??? you can set the ports to be open ......
go to the firewall command center
    click my port sets
    click add new port

    hope it helps

choices are use uPNP(not very secure) or learn to manually forward the ports in your router(and undo them when u are finished)
most firewalls need to be active not stopped to allow incoming connections so closing it down won't work unless it's a v carp fw
find your ip/mac by using the ipconfig command in a command prompt window, then configure router by its admin page

    portforward.com/rou…htm

find your router from the list, and it shows a step by step process on how to make it work for Utorrent.

this is the site Utorrent tells you to use if you have this problem.

But my whole problem is that the router has no facility within its admin pages to forward ports. Someone on ebuyer said they had to set up a virtual server via DHCP which is what I do not know how to do.

Already been there and server is not listed, probably as my router doesnt allow port forwarding.

I have now got utorrent to just a yellow triangle so can live with that as it still seems to be downloading / uploading and my ratio counts on my torrent sites are going up which was my main concern by not allowing incoming connections.

    Cheers all.

    Get a new router?

OK the virtual server system is reasonably easy, but is best done with everything set to manual.
the virtual server is the address of your machine which will now need to have a manual address assigned
check your ip address using ipconfig, set your machine to that address permanently, then set up the virtual server page to point to it, ( get the port from utorrent and turn off random port generation.)
in the router turn off dhcp and away you go, any questions?

soz m8 but haven't got a working vista setup here at mo but if you look through control panel/network properties you will find a tick box which says "obtain IP address automatically".

Uncheck that and then enter your own obtained from command prompt "ipconfig" command. this will also give you the address of default gateway to enter, will look something like this.

Tried entering ipconfig info into IPV4 properties but lost the internet completely,

no worries though as I can live with a red circle at the bottom of utorrent lol

    thanks anyway

lol used caps for file extention and discovered server is case sensitive, works now
