Any Screw Experts on Here ?? :-)

I bought a Cantilever TV stand for my Hitachi TV, i have fixed the stand up fine, but the screws i got with it to fix the TV in place are far to wide. The legnths good its just the width. Do DIY stores like homebase or B&Q make custom screws ? or does anyone know any online stores that sell these screws. Theres a picture in the first post of the screws im using.

    Thanks

Thought I could help............then realised u were talking about somethin else

I'm quite good at screwing things up if that's any good to ya?

If you buy online you'll pay more for postage than you would for the screws.....

Screwfix probably do them but unless you can specify size you're stuck. Be better to call in to Boyes, Homebase, Focus, B&Q or any local hardware store. If you have a small bit of the stand you can take in with you, you can find the right diameter of the screw you need.....

You should be able to get small packs of these bolts from most DIY stores, in various diameters and widths.

ODB might be ur best bet

Like gari says your local DIY store will have loose screws and should be able to match something up for you for a few pence.

Cheers ill look in tommorow, i looked on screwfix and they didnt have any. The bit im trying to connect is the TV onto the actual stand.

:w00t: Just wanna make it quite clear - NO!! Before JB sees lmao

measure the length of the screw, then the diameter of the thinner end. Go to B&Q, buy fatter ones

    Cheers for that, rep added

At last, an oppertunity to showcase my scew expertise. Woo!

    1) Looks sort-of like the kind of screws that are standard in most PCs, except a little longer. I have some of these in a PC somewhere, I think.

    2) Got these in the garage somewhere. Never found a use for them, except maybe for plugs or something. Um. Flat head.

    3) Looks a lot like the screws we guitarists use to support our humbuckers. You can get them in both flat head and phillips head formats. If you've got a spare Gibson Les Paul lying around, try one of the pickup screws from it. Also, this screw appears to be made of solid gold.

    There. Hope that helps.

The bottom one appears to be a M3.5 raised countersink, the middle-ones a M4 machine screw and the top one looks like an M6 roofing bolt. B&Q/Homebase/Focus/Wickes should be able to sort out a small bag of whatever you need but they won't be cheap. You'll pay about £2 for half a dozen. Hope that helps you.

as said , they're machine screws
