Any SSD Recommendations For My Lenovo X200?

3
Found 16th Apr 2014
I've had mine a few months now, and as Solid State Drive prices are tumbling, I'm very tempted to get one (preferably 240GB or so).

Do I need an "upgrade" kit? Any specific models to go for? I'm guessing I need a 2.5" drive. Are there any recommendations for me, as I'm a bit bamboozled reading various threads...one HUKD thread mentions a Kingston SSD model that comes with different firmware, and I can see a X200 getting very frustrated with an OCZ SSD on another forum.

Any hints would be wonderful, thank you I'm running Windows 7 32-bit currently but I'm going to upgrade the RAM and put a 64-bit OS install on soon, too.

I found this "hardware removal" page which will come in handy for removing the HDD: support.lenovo.com/en_…360

My Lenovo X200 is Thinkpad X200 7459: Core 2 Duo, 2.4GHz, 4GB, 160GB, bought from SCC a few months back.
How about this one? hotukdeals.com/dea…750

SanDisk 256GB Ultra Plus SSD SATA III Internal 2.5 Inch 6Gb/s Solid State Drive, Ebay gizzmo_heaven, £89.99
I went with a Crucial M500, 240GB, updated the firmware to MU05 (here: crucial.com/fir…iso ). Now doing the never-ending Windows Updates.

The X200 isn't SATA III but I read somewhere it does around 3G/s bandwidth (SATA II). forums.lenovo.com/t5/…356
