hope this sheds some light on things:w00t:

Agree with dog_cop - Sylvania are top quality - they are sometimes at larger B&Qs so it might be worth a try there if you want something local.....?

    Thanks will take a look.

Have you thought of LED lights to save £££'s? I replaced my GU10s recently in the bathroom for SMD LEDs and the 3W ones are pretty much as bright as the 50W ones they replaced. With a lifespan of 50,000+hrs, that's nearly 6 years constant light!! I'm happy to pay the extra they cost.

I bought from an eBay company local to me in Manchester. They were really helpful and quite willing for me to come down to their showroom and view the different bulbs. On eBay they trade as leanlighting and have an eBay shop. The ones I bought is at this ebay number: 360225581765 there's a link to their shop from there. It's worth a look and there's also different prices for different types of LED bulb.

I had 1 LED and it was terrible, gave off a greenish light, far too dull and seemed to centre the light, rather than illuminate

Seriously mate, LED technology now is way better than it used to be, even 12 months ago!!

The SMD LED Type are available in 2 types cold white, which is pretty much pure white light and warm white, which is just as bright but with a more mellow shade (I went for these and am more than pleased). All his lights come with a 12 month warranty, so if it fails, it will be replaced with no quibble. With a halogen bulb you'll get no warranty.

Another good thing with LED is they don't get hot at all, so you don't suffer from heat staining around the fittings or problems above a shower unit if the bulb gets splashed.

    poundworld/poundland sometimes have them 35w and 50w 2 for a pound cant go wrong:thumbsup:
