    Anybody know about garden ponds?

My problem is that the level of my pond goes down and apart from hole(s), evaporation and creatures drinking the water I was wondering what else might be the reason? I have several fish, a few are pretty large and a lot of plants like rushes and lillies and I wanted to know if the plants drank water and then lost it through evaporation and growth.

It's because the fish are drinking the water:thumbsup:

The garden gnomes are having splash parties when you are not looking

i know about garden ponds......................... usually in your garden and they contain water normally, however i have heard that the water is optional, but then again if you don'y have any water it's not really a pond, more of a hole really, never mind:roll:

How long have you had the pond, long enough to know what the normal rate of evaporation in this weather is? At the moment I have to top mine up at least once a week.

I planted a lot more plants last summer and over the winter when the plants were dormant the level dropped, but not excessively. Now that the plants are in full growth the level is dropping much faster which was why I wanted someone to confirm if the plants could be the cause by drinking water and it then evaporating through their leaves.

I suggest that you ask on a more pond specialist forum such as
