Anybody know what bitrate Amazon's mp3s are at?

Does it vary between different albums etc?

I know ive bought something before and it was 256. I'm trying to buy this
amazon.co.uk/gp/…031

but want to make sure its all at 320.
Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

320 CBR is a fairly wasteful way to encode MP3 files.

Im not sure what you mean, why is it wasteful?

It's not very efficient as it uses space where it's not required. I've drawn a pretty diagram

A high quality VBR (such as V0) will sound the same 99% of the time.
You would see a similar difference storing a CD in FLAC format.

Youve gone too technical on me im afraid, i just want my mp3s at 320kbs, so ill have to pay a bit more and them from elsewhere and not from Amazon.

I think the point is you don't need them at 320, as it has a lot of wasted space.

I know nothing about it, but it's just what I inferred from MBeeching

mate. the whole point of mp3 is so you can have lots of music at small files sizes. if you want a high quality track to play out go buy the vinyl, or cd.

Thanks for the swift response... I buy music that isn't available on cd, but I like to burn it to cd at the highest quality.

Truth be known there isn't that much difference between 256k and 320k CBR, but I suppose if you are paying for it you want the best. Which would, of course, be a lossless codec...
