The one on the left is chard (probably rainbow swiss chard because there are different colours), the one on the right is a pointed cabbage

But seriously. One on right looks like summer cabbage - shred for home made coleslaw. Yum!

the cabbage is called "rocket" - I am growing those this year again - got lots of them ready now, the leaves could be chard as the prev poster says or perpetual or beet spinach - which is a variety of spinach that has leaves that look like beetroot leaves hence the name

Good luck with the chard, in my experience, it's a very acquired taste and texture!

the cabbage on the right is more commonly known as "sweetheart" cabbage in these parts.
Tesco recently started selling it under that name as well.

Wash it to get rid of any grit.
Wilt it like spinach in just the drops of water remaining on the leaves in a covered saucepan then toss it in a pan with a little olive oil that you have added slivers of garlic and a tiny amount of flaked chilli to.
Squeeze over the juice of half a lemon just before serving. Yum! :thumbsup:

I thought rocket was a type of lettuce. This looks nothing like the stuff Jamie Oilver raves about .
