    People are on the dole.

    How dare they :whistling:

    say hi to wstain

i find it very heartbreaking, 30 years in a job and then no job, & the car part makers, lost all thier pension & no redundancy at all when the firm went bust. But they cant get any money & there dosnt seem to be much help for any of them, people from all walks of life.

Its nice to see these people trying to find a job ryman. they are making an effort

Seems a near impossible task though

Maybe, but I suppose the alternative is to do nothing, stay at home and let the rot set in - this way they must feel more positive.

It does make you think though about your own working future & the working future of our kids, if its hard now what's it going to be like when they enter the working world.

But they just hit brick walls though. Of course its better than sitting at home, but after weeks of effort, and people refusing even to talk to them when they have no qualifications, it must be a terrible time for them

    No sympathy at HUKD

I would work anywhere If I found myself unemployed - I would work in MacDonalds if I had too. But there are people who look after sick relatives, mums who have kids to bring up etc who cant work - but then you have the other lot who just dont want to work and I cant understand that at all.

The families on this programme are just devastated at their situations - and they are trying - not sitting on their backsides doing nothing.

just realised  Shows how desperate he is though. That woman looks really lazy and doesn't act differently. Seems she just lets her husband go out and do everything. That little girl is amazingly clever for her age

They're not choosing to. They have had jobs earning x amount and have houses and lifestyles to suit it. They don't want to lose their houses and cars so its not as simple as working in McDonalds. Not only that some have lost pensions and redundancy compensation. If it was that easy im sure they would all be doing it

i was touched when the little girl hugged her dad and cried when they came out of the factory after being on strike and nearly got arrested - promise me you won't do that again daddy! :-(

Showed a little of what is behind all these easy terms like "scroungers" that fly around this forum when discussing the unemployed.

People jump at people who are on benefits, saying why don't they get a job, just lazy etc...
Thats why the show was interesting. There were people who had been working in one industry all their lives and they get told they get no pension or redundancy. Although they do in the end (sort of).

There were other people who had lives that were suited to their old salaries. They don't want to lose their house and everything they had, so getting a job isn't easy. Also people who had kids and needed to look after them

im off now peeps, take it easy
