Anyone been to Butlins with kids - what is it like?

Is there anyone on here that could recommend a Butlins to visit with kids - or are they as dire as many of the comments regarding Pontins are on this site. Thanks

agreed - but if is a dump my other half will not enjoy at all so really wondering about standard if accommodation and food etc

I went to Butlins Minehead 24 years ago - I thought it was ace (but I was only 10 at the time :whistling:)

    Nice review in the Times:

It was terrible. We left after the first night of our three-night break (and four hours' sleep). The taxi driver who drove us to freedom, away from the high, metal, prison-style perimeter fence, said: “You're not the first. Once I had a couple who only lasted a few hours.”

Been to Skegness twice in 2000 and 2004 and Minehead in 2003, it is pretty cheesy but the kids do enjoy it. We went during school time so it was pretty quiet but I think the entertainment is better during school holidays. Loads for kids to do and the rides are free.
I went to Pontins Prestatyn in 2007 and would never go there again, absolutely vile...no comparison to Butlins which was pretty clean and well looked after.

we have been to skegness a few times over last few years on the festival of football weekend x i was really surprised x it had a lot of money spent on ti and is really nice x really clean too x would recommend it x (coming from someone who took there own sheets and cutlery !!) lol x

i went to bultins at bognor regis many years ago and it was a dive - thats why i said make the best of what you can -lol

I stayed half board every time, so accommodation was just bedrooms and bathroom but they were always very clean.

I love it for a laugh, Skegness was ace!
I do like the Half Board as fast food can be quite expensive all the time and the meals were nice!
