Anyone else sold on facebook with the Bonus ball lottery numbers............

Going to be selling my car soon & looking for around £3,500
I noticed a group on facebook that you can sell your items per number.
Say you wanted to sell something at £500, then you charge £10 per number = £590 as you have 59 numbers in the lottery.
I'm reading the threads in the group & not seen any scammers yet & as I'm selling I'm safe :-)
Speedboats,cars,Apple watches etc etc.

Any one else tried this ?

It's called >>>>>>>>>>>> The Bonus Ball Draw Scotland (cars Bikes Quads Etc)

Are you really going to find 350 people willing to spend £10 to win your old car...?

That's not how it works.
I'll be looking for 59 people to buy a number each (or you can buy more than one number) at £60 = £3,540

MODS: Why is this moved to the rubbish ASK section that most members don't visit ?

You still need to find 59 people willing to spend £60 for a 1 in 59 chance. Personally I cant see it happening. You might be better selling privately.

Not a bad idea selling items worth £100-500.. Tickets will only be £5-10 per person then

Have you looked on the site ?
People are selling & fast Motorbikes,BMW cars etc & are selling numbers at £80 each.Looks very good actually & looking at the dates the threads are started, they sell all the numbers within a week.

Someone has just put on his SUBARU IMPREZA at £150 p/ticket :-)

Yes,even in the rules the Admin said no silly ticket prices. He does not mind a small profit, but stupid prices will be removed.
PS4's & Xbox One on sale as well & over 6000 members.

Looks like a potential scam hotspot.

Your paying for a ticket for an item that might not actually exist.
On the same token your taking payment from what could be a stolen credit card.

Sounds dodgy as ****

You could be right & will only be a matter of time before someone does get scammed.
Buying a number is the biggest risk, but I'm going to stick my car on it & see what happens.

Who decides what number wins? can person not do this and just make a family member win and not actually have to give the item away.. This seems like a decent scam at best in my opinion

You can only use the Bonus ball from the lottery & so you can't scam that way.All monies have to be paid in 24 hours before the live Wednesday or Saturday lottery draw.

ah ok so when you pay you get a number, when the actual lottery draws the bonus ball that dictates who has actually won? thats quite good, i can see it working for smaller priced items like gaming consoles etc, not so sure on a car.. let us know how it goes,

Agreed, on the lower priced items like game consoles it could work, people won't mind sticking £5-10 in, I haven't seen the site but chancing £60+ which could end up being a scam, can't see many doing that.

It's a good idea though.

Although saying that, could always use a middle man (admin) to hold the money until the winner receives item.

At first when I seen the group I thought that what would happen as it sounds more safer :-/
Still looks like the group is running fine, but of course someone will get bumped.

You can't do a Charge back with BT ?

Sounds like a rife arena for scams.

It does, but looking on the group it looks like it's running well & with honesty.

Isn't that classed as a lottery, therefore subject to UK gambling laws?

I read its against Facebook rules but each to there own. If people want to take the risk I guess that's up to them. I personally wouldn't do it though.

It's not much of a gamble on lots of stuff like Xbox ones ,PS4's etc at around £5-£6 a ball.
Bigger items yes,but a 1 in 59 chance of winning say a Speedboat is worth the risk if you go over the sellers feedback & you can see they post daily on facebook.Still a risk, but I guess most things are.

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but how is the winning number decided? thanks

Did you view it ?
When you make a Thread you have to state if it's Wednesday or Saturdays lottery draw & it's the Bonus ball.
You have a 1 in 59 chance of winning & is actually good odds when you consider your chances of winning say a Speed boat for £100 lol.

I've seen a couple of these on FB, seller has stated when all no's are bought then it will be the following Saturday Lotto Bonus ball which wins.

I've not seen he dedicated FB page though just friends of friends, which IMO is a better way to go, keep it within your circle of friends to ensure everything above board.
When each no. is bought then the full list of names is publicised and updated as they sell, that way everyone can see the completed list BEFORE the draw is made, for me that is the most important part, everyone taking part must see the completed list prior to draw taking place.

Original Poster

They do see the full list of names who have bought a number before the draw is made.
I've looked at about 20 items & people are winning cars etc & getting them.I've just took number 15 for an Xbox one at a fiver lol.

I have now looked at it and it looks OK. But as you will be a new random member joining I think it will be hard to convince people to part with that much cash for a number to win the car. I think this is more of a confidence building page, where people build trust over time.

A bit like the sale section on here, you would not send someone a load of money if they have just joined for any item, so asking someone to part with over a £100 for a bonus ball number on Facebook to a stranger is gonna be hard mate, then try convincing another 58 people to follow suit......not gonna happen.

Wait, so I can buy 30 of the 59 balls and give myself over 50% chance of winning for £150-£180? Bargain PS4.

If that's an attempt at trolling, then it's a poor attempt.
If this was run by an organization they would be looking to triple profits & so that means it would cost you more even if you still had a 1 in 59 chance of winning.Brand new PS4 sells for around £300 & so on here the guy will take in £295 at a fiver a ball.Another guy done an iphone 6 (used) & he charged £3.75 p/ball & that adds up to £221.25.Used iphone 6 sells for more than this on Gumtree,eBay etc so not sure why your trying to talk it down :-/

If I pay £130 for 1 ball & yes I agree £130 is a lot of money, but I have a 1 in 59 chance of owning a Land Rover that's actually not bad odds & no organization is sticking around 40-50% on top of that.

Well I'm still looking for bonus ball number 15 tonight for an Xbox One lol.

No I wasn't 'trolling', it was a genuine response. If a PS4 is £300 new and it's £5 a ball, I could theoretically buy 30 balls for £150 and have a 50%+ chance of winning it. Unless of course you're saying it's limited to one ball per person, which is a whole different 'ball game'. . Although even then, multiple accounts could get round that.

You can buy as many balls as you want, but if you pay say £150 for 50% of the balls you are still on a 50/50 chance of winning & so it is still a risk.
I see it as more of buying one number on something for around £50-£100 & getting say a car that's worth around £6000-£7000.

Why don't you just sell your car the normal way?

It's hard selling your car & most people just accept a loss & trade it in.I'm not wanting to take about a 30% loss bud.
