Anyone emigrating to OZ or been through the process?

    Hi

I am in the processing of moving to OZ, just wondered if anyone else has started the ball rolling or even got there visa

I have been doing it over two yrs and today had a brilliant call to say i have been allocated a case officer and requested having my medicals and police checks done which i have booked in for the medicals on 1st April in Manchester.

Its getting closer now and more realistic...arhhhh.

    Thanks

    Hi all

We are have applied for both 176 and 175 visa,.....and just been told today they are going under the 175 which is the better one because we can live anywhere.

We was going to go to QLD but things are looking really hard out there at the moment so probably go to Adelaide were its cheaper and more work.

We are going to have to validate this yr sometime...probably move over in the next few yrs.

We did the working hols visa 10 yrs ago and loved it.

rather you than me, im not a big fan

says the person with that avatar lol

i went over when i was younger, lived for a while and just didnt like it too much, was like an england abroad, with none of the history or age to things and i didnt particularly find the people too endearing though i was heavilly involved in those involved in sport...

the rugby was fun and different to the british game and it was nice having the beaches and weather.. but just not for me

Yes got halfway through my visa

We were basically told we could only go to Adelaide due to my profession (graphic designer)

We just started our visa, everything looked straightforward, but we got ou house valued, it was coming in much lower than we expected, so we decided to delay 18-30month and use the time to have a baby as we knew we couldn't afford to over there especially as visa restrictions were specific i had to work the first two years.

Fell pregnant within months, had our daughter and decided once she was 3m to get back on to it, but my profession was off the list. I was...still am gutted, house is worth even less, should has sold and jumped ship...but i got my baby so no regrets.

There may be chances in the future but for now i have to give up on the idea, our life was on hold for 3/4 years whist we prepared an gained work experience etc.

I do feel disappointed in myself sometimes, not fo me but for my kids, i could have given them better

when were graphic designers taken off the list?

i think you may be mistaken

I was going on a state sponsored visa, for that i need to be on both the main list and the individual state list, it's defo gone off all the state lists, not checked the main, but i received notice that marketing and promotion professions were basically really low down...have you come across some different info...would appreciate a look if you have

It was taken off last April.

personally i would dvise you to join a dedicated forum and spek to people who re going or who have gone through your specific visa/career

pomsinoz.com is 1 of the ones i used along with an expat forum which i forget the name of

    pomsinoz.com/for…tml

    has some good info

Was a member of pomsinoz and pomsinadelaide, i have tried a few ways and basically i can go if i line up a job or I consider a temp visa, but i have a family and want the security of permanent, and i don't really want o go down the route of getting a job beforehand as i realize an employer can have me over a barrel once i get there, i may have another hunt, to be truthful i am wary of having my hopes built up again, as you will know it's a pretty emotional process. What do you do over there? and whe did you emigrate?

Just wized through the points test, i only score 105

    Age 25
    Competent English 25
    Profession 50
    Work experience 5

Im above the 100, but below the 120 so that only leaves the option of a sponsored visa, i have no relatives, so its either secure a job beforehand or state sponsorship. GDesign is not on any of the state lists to my knowledge (maybe still Tasmania but don't want to go there).

I am already vetassesed which does not expire and have previously been accepted for SA sponsorship, but has now expired due to time lapse and removal from the SA sol

    Hi

I am a member of Poms in Oz and one on Facebook, they do help and give you lots of information

Am using Visa Bureau and yeh they have been great and very helpful couldnt fault them.

Am nearly there at the final stages filled the police checks in lastnight, and they also requested i get a new passport which i filled in online lastnight and waiting for them to post it too me or might go and get another form from the post office today.

Medicals all booked....so looks like i can have the visa in probably 6-8 wks

We did apply for 176 visa for QLD and 175 ....they are now processing ours under the 175 visa which is great for us becuase we are going off the idea of QLD due to no work and cost of living there so may go to Adelaide or Melbourne.

Dont think i slept lastnight so much too do.

My fella got shingles at the beginning of the process thru stress all the paperwork we had to do, find out etc. Going round all the companies he worked for the passed 20yr asking for references 3-4 pages long, in the end we wrote them all out and asked the companines to put them on letter headed paper.

    Nightmare

That's pretty much the route i was looking at but i am not on any of the state lists, it was on tas and SA till last year, so it's waiting to see of it goes back on. But for now I have decided to just leave it at the back of my mind as I just can't live on hold anymore.
I want to move house and get on with my life without it in the near future.

I have purposely made sure i have a 20 hour contract so my work experience meets eligibility criteria.

well good luck anyway, if you want it badly enough youll find a way. id be looking at employers in the uk who have offices in australia or look at possibly retraining

the quality of life here is second to none tbf as im sure youre aware and the wages they pay over here are also extremely good. although it is more expensive than the u.k to live on balance

I agree completely with the wanting it enough bit. I am just not prepared to take risks when it could end up badly, when i have a hubby and 3 kids in tow.
I feel that it's gonna be tough enough making a new life over there anyway so I don't want to go with the odds against me, if you know what I mean, I'd rather make that jump when they are in my favor.

I am not giving up just taking a rest.

What do you do and are you on a permanent visa? Must be a good profession to warrant living in Sydney

Read this as "anyone migrating to O2 or been through the process?"
was going to ask you if you had your PAC code, time for specsavers i think.
