Anyone ever tried Kerastase Shampoo & Conditioners?

To cut a long story short, I had my hair coloured a deep red by a professional salon a week ago, a few days after having it done the colour had faded incredibly badly. I went back to the salon yesterday and they agreed it had faded very quickly and would re-colour it for free and use a different brand of professional colourant so see if that would stop it fading.

They also commented that it could be my shampoo & conditioner (Tresemme Colour Protect) that was "stripping the colour". Apparently, even though they are branded as colour protecting they actually don't help at all.

My hairdresser told me that they only recommend salon products, one being Kerastase, which just happens to be bloody expensive! Apparently, once they re-colour my hair, I need to start using them as "normal" hair products will strip the colour from my hair?!

Anyway, before I splash out nearly £30 for shampoo & conditioner, can anyone let me know if they have used any Kerastase products, if so, what do they think of them?

Ta!

Sadly red hair colourants are always the quickest to fade. I had some red streaks in my hair last year and they faded quicker than all the other colours. I just used normal shampoo sparingly and diluted it in my hands before putting it into my hair. Keratese does sound steep and lots of hairdressers will try to sell their in salon products, I assume they must make some money from it.
Have you tried googling it to see if their are any review pages for it. That might give you a better idea..

Hi,

I always use Kerastase shampoo & conditioner & think it's fab. It is quite expensive but it lasts me ages & smells lovely.

I know red fades fast but a week is ridiculous! I have had red streaks / lowlights in my hair before and they have lasted several weeks without fading. This is the first time I have gone for an all over colour. When I first got it done the colour was a lovely deep red, just what I wanted. Now it is still red, but it has lost its depth and is nowhere near as dark as it was!

I have been looking on the net at Kerestase products and I think the one I need is Reflection which is for chemical treated hair.

The salon I go to only sells the Loreal Professional Range which includes Kerestase but they did also mention two other professional products but they had funny names and I can't remember them at all! I only remember Kerestase as I had heard of it before.

Mikos - Do you buy yours from a salon or the internet? Also, I am slightly confused, I can see the shampoo but what is the conditioner? Is it Radiance-Enhancing Milk?

I have pink and black hair at the mo (as of last week), before then I had red and black.
It's true that reds fade quicker than any other colour.
Did you have your hair bleached before the red was put on?(this makes the colour more vibrant - but also fades very quick)
My red (or pink as it is now) was bleached first then I put the red (or pink) on myself, any semi-permenant will do. This way you can top it up yourself every couple of weeks and it doesn't cost you much.
I use Elvive shampoo and conditioner in the red bottle for coloured hair. My hairdresser recommended this to me.
Hope this helps.
P.S. I get my hair colour from www.beeunique.co.uk and use the special effects range. They are fab and the red that I use(cherry bomb) lasts really well. £8.50 a bottle - 2/3 months worth!

Check out the photo gallery. Some are a bit way-out but some are really nice.

Thanks but I wouldn't dare dye my own hair!

That's what I used to say. You can't go wrong though. My hairdresser bleaches my hair (wouldn't dare do that) but I put my colour in.
Hope your shampoo works well, let us all know!

hi there, trevor sorbie colour+redhead shampoo is really good... its infused with colour so it should keep your colour nice and bright.. kerastase is very good, but usually its for dry and damaged hair.. i know that the conditioner in the gold bottle can be bought from the wholesalers for about £10.. hope this helps!!

Ok, I had my hair re-coloured for free today and was speaking to the salon manager about how to keep the red vibrant for longer. He also suggested Kerestase Reflection so I gave in and bought both the shampoo & Chroma Reflect (a conditioner) which cost me over £30!?!

Anyway, he also said that any hair products that are sold in normal stores that claim they are colour protect, will actually strip the colour out. He also said pantene is horrible and leaves a plastic film on hair so when it is coloured, the colour doesn't take. Interesting. Apparently the only brand of "normal" hair products they will recommend is Herbal Essenses because its natural?!

Oh well, hope these bloody Kerastase products work well or I just wasted £30!
