    Anyone good with Networking?

Basically in our house we have six computers connected to the wireless router. What we want to do is all get Red alert 2 (or similar game) and play eachother across the wireless.

I havnt really got a clue, ive tried messing around with the home network but not really sure what i need to be doing.

    Help is much appreciated !

In my experience if you are on the same network you should be able to find other games hosted from the menu in the game itself without any configuration. Like system link with an xbox 360

Yeah you should be good to go right off the bat. Host a game on one of the computers and see if the other comps on the network can see/join the game.

not sure bout ra1 but for red alert 2 u need the ipx protocol installed
This isnt on by default in windows xp, if any of u plan to use it on net u need hamachi version 1.011 any later version will break the ipx stack and will even affect lan play so check no machines have this installed any further hlp need just shout great game

    buy C&C3

sorry guys but generals and cnc3 just dont cut it, having played cnc and ra since inception was dearly disappointed with both
neither provided any new content for the genre simply spruced up graphics and severely missing the humour angle of ra series

This is correct you need IPX installed and you each need a unique ID. To install IPX you need to lookup your network connection then add the protocol. In the properties you can put in an eight digit number make sure these are unique (this is the ID i was talking about).

You need to find the mac address of your Wlan card next can be done by typing cmd into run then ipconfig /all into the command line.
Get the mac then in the game go to the options>networking and adjust accordingly.

Then just host a LAN game and leave some slots open for your friends, if your all on the same wireless router this 'should be' no fuss at all. They should be able to view your game in the lobby. Newer games usually rely on TCP IP so the chances are you wont have any issues with network configurations unless your trying to get out onto the internet in which case you may need to port foward.
I'm not currently on windows XP so some of those instructions maybe a little out but i'm sure you can find them :-)
make sure your personal firewall is configured Windows XP has a nack of popping up a box when your in mid game
