Anyone had nasal polyps/bad sinus blockage/infection

As titled really? As wondering how people coped up until their op if they had nasal polyps.

Ive got a referral to a ENT specialist for Nov 19th but that seems a small lifetime away especially as its just a consultation and not the actual op. So could have to wait another 2-6weeks after that! Took me 2months to get a consultation!

Not sure how long i've been suffering exactly as ive suffered from sinus pain/pressure on and off for years, but the Dr predicts when i had sinusitis about 9months ago i probably had nasal polyps! Ive tried the steroids to reduce them but it hasnt helped at all, so now ive stopped them.

Basically Im trying to study and due to the nasal polyps which are causing me not to breathe properly so i have put on a bit of weight as i struggle with exercise due to not being able to regulate my breathing, then i cant sleep properly as i get waking up breathless and not being able to breathe properly. Furthered by the fact i think my sinus' is blocked and therefore causing an infection again as im getting a raised lump on my forehead just above my nose, then the pain and pressure all day and all night.

Its doing my nut in, thinking of going to A&E tomorrow to see if they can help as im struggling concentrating at uni and i really cant afford to. Even if i can just get some painkillers of something to tide me over till the consultation!

do you want some proper advice? i can pm you if you want.

if your anything like my brother I'd have had you shot.

He had all that eventually resulting in an op. didn't make much of a differnce apart from his snoring, breathing, general grunting and all round nasalness being so damn annoying that I still to this day hate him.

Not much help I know but my sympathys are with those close to you.

aw feeling the love! yeah i think my girlfriend is actually quite lucky not living with me atm as it was getting annoying for her as it was, but in the last 2 weeks its increased exponentially! So its only people in student house so other then an occasion i feel like **** comment or not i dont wish to go out (im also skint due to no student loan) they dont get affected.

Was his instant clear up after the op though?

from memory it was a bit better but his snoring etc went back to pre op levels but without the discomfort. To this day his snoring is ridiculous, I had the misfortune of staying overnight with him a few weeks ago and I could hear him from downstairs. :x

oh damn! I dont think i snore as next to no air flows through no nose, especially my left nostril and i have to sleep with my mouth wide open...god knows how many spiders ive eaten in the last couple of months.

Its just got to the point where its really hindering my life as my energy levels are dropping, concentration is starting to go, and just cant think when my headaches/migraines take over.

Thank you very much for your PM as well!

See i got told that but after actually waking up eating one, nearly threw up as well, i believe it!

Yes i know how you feel, makes you tired and down right miserable.Don't wan to be negative but i've had three ops and although a lot better not nearly right and still get infections.Good luck and hopefully they will sort you out.

I've had minor sinus blockage and I use a spray called 'Sterimar' which works fine for me. But your problem seems alot more serious.

    Best of luck though.

Hubby has this problem, poor guy. :-( He had an op and thought Yay!! all problems solved!!. After sometime it is back to how it was before, blocked nose, breathing through mouth etc. In the day he's ok, but during night when I sleeping peacefully next to him, he'll be wide awake trying to breathe.

im in the similar situation now. Have had it quite bad for about two years and have only recently been to see GP. I have been given Flixonase drops, but not sure if theyre working as since taking them i am sleeping better as i can breathe properly at night, but the downside is since taking them evry morning i wake up feeling really wierd. Im presuming these changes are due to the drops - but im gonna stick with them to see if they do work.

Hope your op gets everything sorted

are they the steriod drops? i took them for a month, no use!
and im not even 100% sure its nasal polyps or im getting an op, its just speculation from the GP.

Well i went and bought a nasal saline solution douche (£14.44!) and some codeine today and the codeine seems to be taking the edge off, but not reliving me...but ill give it some time.
The douche was horrible to start with but isnt too bad when you get use to the sensation...until it comes out your mouth! It seem to have helped breathing out of my right nostril but now cant breathe whatsoever from the left nostril!
