Found 9th Mar 2010
It started off yesterday and oh my god I was so ill, projectile vomit at 4am in the morning.
Couldn't eat a thing all day and was taking dehydration sachets and juice.

Still feel ill today but not half as bad as yesterday

It's worse from the man flu

That was another thing, I couldn't stop sleeping all day - totally knocked me for one

Sorry to hear that Saxo but you should get over it quickly BUT even if you feel absolutely fine tomorrow DON'T go into work (unless you want to risk spreading it around). General advice is to stay away from work/school etc until 2 days have passed once vomiting/diarrhoea has finished....

Its common advice given in any vomiting/diarrhoea situation when you know its a bug. The missus had this the other month. Sorry to hear you have it to.

Keep washing your hands properly too.

I had it last year. For me it lasted 48 hours. Just keep on drinking as dehydration will make you dizzy too. And keep planty of bags ready...in all of the rooms in the house!

The sickness has gone now thank god! When I cough it hurts around my sides now and I do feel a bit dizzy when ever I move
I don't want to attempt going to the docs as I know what it is
I was fine on Sunday night then 4am came Whoooooosh !!

I used to work for a Cruise line, I have had it and seen it quite a lot. It's nasty and it feel like the world is going to end, but keep hydrated and eat simple foods, and most importantly don't stray too far from the bathroom for the first 24 hours....

flat non diet lemonade is really good for keeping you hydrated, i had gastroenteritis years ago and my doctor told me this, stir it with a spoon to make it flat
hope you feel better soon

Yeh I was reading up on it and apparently flat coke was meant to be good ....but !!

It doesn't have salt in it which is why the sachets are the best

lol that's nothing i've had swine flu!!!

I had it last week, sickness and the runs lasted for two days, had aching limbs,it was awful,my tummy still wasn't right for days, felt queasy after i ate anything.

The Doc told my sis(not about this,it was when her kids were ill) that coke is better than those rehydration sachets when you've been sick etc.

How long were you off work for deb8z?

My Dad had this 2 weeks ago. Like a flowing tap from both ends and like it for 2 days. At the same time sections of our local (but very large) hospital was closed down because of an epidemic!

The sickness has gone but I do still feel all sore, bit of a headache, bit dizzy, temp I think is up as my cheeks are all flushed

both my girls had it and was sick constantly for 24 hours and that was it, they still ended up haing 2 days off school though.

Should you not have kept them off longer so they didn't take the bug in with them?

It can be a real big problem in schools and will go through whole classes. The nursery our kids used to go to would not accept any child who had a tummy bug unless 2 days had passed. Shame the schools don't do the same........we've had instances where a child has vomited in class only to be sent to school the next day even though the child was still poorly.

To be fair, much of the blame for that can be flung straight back at the school in their pursuit for good attendance figures.
