Can someone confirm it decodes MKV with DTS, without the need of an external decoder. Ive read a lot of conflicting reviews.

The original WDTV would only pass through the dts signal to an amp to decode it. So if you played it direct to your tv you would get silence.

WD have launchd a few new versions.

I bought the WDTV Live. It is improves on the old one having a bit more processing power, and can now 'downsample' dts to stereo so you do not need to run it through an amp and hear it fine through the tv speakers.

They have also just released a WDTV v2. Which replaces the old one. Apparently V2 is like the Live version (it downsamples DTS), but without the netowrking features (ethernet port) that the Live version has.

Hope this helps.
