i remember seeing on tele that you can stimulate baby's mind by having big bold black shapes on white walls. the kind of designs/patterns which baby einstein utilise a great deal.

i'm trying to get some images of such examples on the internet, or any info on doing such a nursery but im getting nothing. maybe if someone knows the proper name for the deisgn i'm talking about?

not doing the nursery as yet (baby due in feb!!) just want to show my husband what i'm talking about!!

You can buy cot mobiles that are just black and white with geometric shapes as well MB.

thanks dan and becks!!! ur stars. did u find a name for this kind of design? these are cards right? im still looking for a nursery where shapes etc are painted on the walls (or maybe stickarounds!!) but these are also a good idea.

ur very kind for helping. dan i ran outta rep but owe u!

BB thanks hun if i go with this these theme will be using a baby einstein mobile. i had it for my first two kiddies but think i thre it out?!

I have to say, my eldest had a little black/white cloth book when he was tiny, and would spend ages looking at it - it had black/white spirals, checkboards and some simple animals. I reckon that black/white images probably offer better stimulation at a very young age than big splurges of colour, just don't expect your little one's genius to manifest itself much before 6 months mind................;-)

They do, they are much easier for a babby to focus on because they are so bold and simple. Too much pattern and colour confuses them.

dan i love that photo!! dont worry im not a psycho mum and gonna make a genius outta my kid. its my third... if u have more than one u'll know what i mean when i say im not gonna be smothering it!! but i just saw it on tv and i thought it looked quite a funky fresh way to decorate a nursery esp as we wont find out the sex, instead of creams and lemons etc!!

BB and becks those are awesome thanks!!

Just as little info on black and white from the early years bible lol....
