I have joined TV-forums.com and posted this question

Hi, my tv has been doing this for a few months now but getting a bit more frequent. The tv is 4 years old and has lots of daily use. The problem is it turning off and on about 10 times in 30 seconds but then stays on after that, sometimes using the tvs remote triggers its on and off cycle. It clicks when its doing it and there is a red light flashing in the bottom right corner. I tried a different remote but the same problem, tried different hdmi channels, turned off all eco settings and timers, reset the settings, tried different appliances like ps4, laptop and cabe box, changed remote batteries, unplugged at mains. it can be working for 3 hours then I will go to do anything with the remote like turn the sound down and it will do it again. seems to happen more when I try to interact with the tv, like changing the volume or channel. Changing the sky channel doesn't affect it.
The tv is a Samsung UE55F6670. any help much appreciated, thank you

Do you think it could be IR related? Maybe the remote is faulty or button sticking?

Try removing the batteries from the remote and see if the issue persists.

Sorry, unsure of any forums.

Years ago I had a Samsung tv that wouldn't turn, YouTube helped me a great deal. For eg put "Samsung UE55F6670 keeps turn of and on" in the search and there would be others with similar proplems. I changed the capillaries in mine and 6 years later it's still going strong.

Capacitors, Common fault on Samsung tvs powerboard, I had similar issues on my old Samsung tv.

I doubt it as sometimes it just does it when I control the tv using the button on the tv. I'll also try removing the batteries like you said. Thanks

Hi, A tell tail sign with faulty capacitors is standby light flashing or taking time to turn the tv on, you could always test this by disconnecting the power from the tv, and holding the power on button via the tv to discharge the caps in the tv, and if you are brave enough there are plastic tubes that bulge outwards connected to the powerboard that can be changed for pence, these are the caps. however on certain samsung tv's this sometimes can short the eprom chip which there is work arounds, as the previous member gave advice via youtube link.

when you discharge plug back in and see if the tv stays on longer than before, maybe worth also change the whole power board and these can be had for £10-£30 on ebay if it turns out to be a caps issue

this looks to be the powerboard, a tad expensive though

also video board if needed

have you also tried a firmware update?

Like others have said, this sounds like the capacitors on the power supply board. Easiest solution would be to replace this board if you can get a hold of it cheap enough. If not you can attempt to repair them but this might not be worthwhile if you are not sure what you are doing as you could make things even worse.

I'd treat yourself to a new telly X)

Omg how embarrassing I meant capacitors not capillaries lolX)
