Anyone know anything about Autosleepers (camper vans) ?

Found 25th May 2010
I am thinking about buying this:

Does anyone who knows about them have any advice on this one in particular (is it a good deal?) or in general?

Thanks

Erm... the price on the link looks a bit high! -- £17995............. I guess it should read £1799.95 !

price on screen matches! I'd have thought for that money you'd have got better.
Mind you what do I know I'm quite happy with our folding camper

It looks like it is set out very nicely, I think the price is correct as they aren't cheap!

Last year we were looking at campers, but found them really expensive. We ended up buying an LDV campervan from Ebay, really cheap. When we got it home and started looking at it in more detail we found out that it hadn't been waterproofed properly and all the flooring and most of the wood was rotten!
We ended up stripping it all out and doing it all ourselves, we saved a huge amount of money, but it depends how handy you are with wood cutting and painting.
It has taken us 6 months to build it but it has been totally worth it, this weekend will be our first weekend away in it

Never had one, or known anyone who has had one, but as previous poster says check condition of the appliances. These will often be expensive to repair. In models with water check seals are ok as otherwise could be the start of rust problems.

Thanks for the "serious" response from someone who knows what they are talking about!

I would be aiming to get this for £16000, pending a mechanical inspection. It looks sweet.

Yours looks good now - sorry you had probs with it. The problems you had are ones I don't want, which is why I don't want to go the ebay route.

Have a great time in it.

Thank you, I am sure we will. Just take a really good look around at a few before you make a decision, find one with a layout you like as the setup of them differ quite a bit, so think about how many people will be going and the seating/bed arrangement, you also want to get the most storage possible as space to put stuff can be a problem.

If you are buying a van make sure there are no water leaks as in a lot of Transits etc water runs down the front windowscreen and into the passenger footwell, due to bad sealing from the factory, so jump up and down on the front rubber/foam flooring and make sure it isn't squdgy!!

In total, including the price of the van, stereo system, fur, wood and electrics this has cost us £1700 which I think is a bargain, I'm going to try to forget about the working on it every weekend for 6 months bit! LOL
