You can only convert free to air programs, anything on your sky subscription is encrypted.

You can copy the files but you can't watch them on your computer. You can get a USB capture device that will record what is on your TV but it will be SD quality. They may have come out with a HD version now oh here

amazon.com/gp/…GEA

As it's digital I don't know if it will be sent encrypted or not. Best bet would be to use a cheap dazzle device to capture in SD quality.

Any sky box as long as you have a valid subscription to that channel.

Oh man. I wanted to put them on my hard drive and play them through xbmc on my revo! Wanna keep some boxing matches and etc. They never replay them and you'll never get to watch them again!

Nah you cant do that

Maybe a bit ott but what about a dvd recorder and stick them on a dvd? Thats what I do.

I was considering that but I want to keep them in HD! I know it can be done, was just hoping someone could point me in the right direction! Will have to maybe wait for Blu-ray recorders to come down in price.

I know you can get a PCI and plug the hdmi into ur pc and it will play but I dont know how to do it or which one to purchase,

at work now if you type it into amazon and see which has the best reviews. Then tap it into google shopping to find the best price.

You should read up on HDCP (High Definition Copy Protection) apparently it will stop you recording from Sky HD, you can only record it in SD over component like I said before as this doesn't have any copy protection.

Yeah I have read up on that. Looks like I would need to buy something to bypass the HDCP first and then use something like Black Magic Intensity Pro

Can you not use this? http://www.skycopyplus.co.uk/extract.php

As already stated above i guess you misread, only works on free to air channels bbc1 etc.

From reading online it seems like I would need a HDFURY to bypass the HDCP and connect that to a Hauppauge HD PVR. That sound right?
