Anyone know of the best and cheapest way of getting SKY HD ?

Recently upgraded TV to HD one. Already have SKY + but possibly looking to get SKY HD. Spoken to Sky and they want £150 for the box, £60 fitting and £10 month subs.

I've got no probs with £10 month, but don't fancy £210 to get box fitted. Any ideas r suggestions to lower this?

The account is in wife's name so don't mind cancelling current pack and re-doing it in my name as we also have Talk, Broadband and Line rental with them.

All help greatly appreciated.

If you re subscribe through refer a friend you get the hd box for 100 squids.

What do you need fitting? if you are already a member of sky you should already have your dish and what not. I would have thought you would just need to swap the box.

So if I get someone else to sign up for Sky, I get the HD box for £100 plus fitting?

When you went from Sky to Sky+ the installer would have had to install a quad LNB and run a new cable to your box. With Sky HD you'd just need the box changing over and the box paired with your card.

If you don't want to pay the £10 sub you'll still get BBC HD and Channel 4 HD.

Alternatively you could buy a Freesat box and just install it yourself. ]http//ww….uk

So could I get a 2nd hand HD box, fit it myself and then pay the £10/month?

Yep. I bought a brand new one from fleabay 12 months ago then fitted it myself. You'll need to phone Sky though to pair the card with the HD box but that only takes a few minutes. If you only want BBC HD and C4 HD then they'll come on as soon as the box is up and running.

Still need to phone Sky even if you don't want to pay the extra £10 a month, if you don't the Sky+ recording facilities won't work.

Just a quick update for anyone else interested in Sky HD.
I made a call yesterday to their Sales dept. I got talking to a nice guy at the other end and told him that I was looking for a deal to get HD. His questioning was leading me to quote that I'd seen an offer, which of course I hadn't. Anyway, we eventually settled on the fact that I "had seen the Daily Mail advert" and this then qualified me for a box for £75 and installation of £60. So I've now ordered one to be fitted next week

Hope this helps somebody.

there is a big advertising campiagn at the moment. £75 for the box and only £30 installation...if you do it online, you get £15 credit, you can also get £15 through quidco..

makes it box for £45 and installation for £30..(as long as you take £10 per month hd mix)

if you take out multi room aswell, you get free installation..
