Anyone on virgin mobile and been able to call 084/087 numbers?

I bought a £8 per month sim only deal with virgin mobile this afternoon. Their website states 1000 + 1000 minutes to 08 numbers.

I understood this to mean that I get 1000 minutes per month to call non 08 numbers and in addition, another 1000 minutes per month to call 08 numbers like 084/087 etc

My sales confirmation email doesn't mention the 1000 minutes to 08 numbers and it also mentions 45p access charge to 084/087 numbers. I logged into my new account online and it doesn't mention the 08 numbers in my plan details either. I did online chat and got no where as the guy couldn't clarify whether the plan gave me 1000 minutes to 08 numbers so I had another online chat a few minutes later. This time the new guy confirms my understanding.

However, this now gives me doubts. Anyone on virgin mobile and been able to call 084/087 numbers within their allowance and not be charged additional costs?

Yes I am on the same deal and don't get charged extra for calling 0870, 0843, 0844, and 03 numbers as well. The access charges are for those customers who do not have these numbers in their plan to start with. If you want to double check you can make a quick call and then login to your online account and check for recent calls and the number you called should be listed and no charge against.it. Hope this helps!

do you have your account registered online? when you log in, do you see any mention of 08 numbers in your plan detail section?

are there plans that do not have minutes to 08 numbers with virgin mobile?

Yes I have an online account but there is no mention of 08 numbers but if you download an app called 'virgin mobile my account' on your phone ( iphone or android) and run it over the virgin network (not wifi) it will show all allowances including 08 numbers and you will see your 1000 minutes for 08 numbers

Muts, download the Virgin mobile app. It will show you what minutes/data etc you have. Mines shows my Virgin to Virgin separate, 08 numbers separate and Virgin to non Virgin minutes separate. I do have unlimited everything but still I get to see what I've used each month.

yes. 1000 minutes to non 08 numbers and an additional 1000 minutes to call 08 numbers. You also get unlimited texts and 1GB of data.

also only tie in for a month as it is a rolling 30 days contract. sounds too good to be true to be honest but there it is.

There are two parts to the inclusive allowance.

The first part covers calls to:
    - geographic numbers starting 01 and 02
    - non-geographic numbers starting 03
    - mobile numbers starting 071-075 and 077-079.
The inclusive allowance does not cover calls to 01 landline and 07 mobile numbers allocated in Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man.

Calls to numbers starting 080 and 116 are free-to-caller.

The second part of the allowance covers calls to:
    - service numbers starting 084 and 087.

    Chargeable calls include:
    - personal numbers starting 070
    - service numbers starting 09 and 118
    - police non-emergency number on 101
    - international calls
    - calls made while roaming.

Virgin Mobile's terms and conditions warn that the deal cannot be used to 'predominantly' call 084 and 087 numbers. This is because calls to these numbers cause Virgin Media to have to pay out up to £7.80 per hour to the organisation that was called. If the whole 1000 minutes is used, Virgin Media has to pay out up to 130 pounds, and the organisations that were called may earn up to around 85 pounds of that.
