Anyone on Virgin XL or XXL Broadband?

    Hi, after a little info

Is anyone on Virgin Media XL or XXL Broadband that's able to tell me how much they download each month without getting roasting from them?

    100, 200 300gb or more??

I download lots of game demos from PC (each around 5gb each) and also use the xbox marketplace which are quite large, also my dad uses his PC for I-Tunes, PS3 Downloads and large mkv files (no comments please), also used by other family members for general internet use and streaming websites etc etc.

Currently on Be broadband with around a 6-8mb download speed connection but tempted to move over to virgin and get better speeds

Not had a problem with Be, it's been solid and overall been downloading about 350gb per month overall in the household (check via router stats and network monitor)

I hear that Virgin Throttle, anyone know what this is like and does it affect things liek online gaming or streaming at peak times.

    Thanks

I've downloaded in excess of 500GB in some months on XL. never had any letter or anything.

if your going to download a lot during the day or stream, get XXL broadband where there's no cap. XL broadband you get capped after about 3.5gb of downloading.

thanks guys, is the 50mb XXL package not throttled then?

Theres no download caps on any of the teirs, but on xl you will get slowed down to 5mb if you download more than 7gb 10am-3pm and more than 3.5gb 5pm-9pm. Do your downloadings after 9 and you wont suffer. Theres no limits on the xxl teir.

I'm on the M (10mbps) and have no problems downloading 200GB+ a month. I just set the downloads off at 6-8AM and all done by about 10AM so hardly ever get throttled either

The other day I downloaded at least 29GB+ worth of stuff, and i wasn't throttled

    Also worth noting with Virgin...

The 10meg is in the process of being upped to 20meg, the 20 to 50 and the 50 to 100. Spoke to Virgin this week and confirmed its being rolled out before the end of the year. Im on 50meg atm so looking forward to the 100meg. TBH though i may even consider downgrading to the 20 come 50 as dl's have been a little limited recently in terms of content.

10mb here and I download constantly. Never had any letters but they do enjoy to cap if you download too much between 9 and 9

they will say anything to keep customers. 100mbps will be a new premium product. none of the other teirs are being upgraded afaik.

cheers chaps, seems like the best option for me, I think I might hold on to see what the 100mb package comes out at, news sources say that it will be launched in the next week or so
