This is the type of thing that really annoys me.
I've seen people sent to jail for 3 and 4 years for selling copy dvds at boot sales, how on earth can selling copy dvd's be classed as being worse than what these did?
There's no way these should have walked out of court.
Hopefully the CPS will appeal the sentence.

I know mate, no worries.

Our justice system is too soft on animals they consider to be "too young". By being so lenient they are only making them worse.

UK prisons are cosier than a hostel, why should we be so considerate of convicts human rights when they were never thoughtful of others when they commit such crimes.

Not saying we should stone them to death but we have been slapping the wrists of the uneducated for too long now.

What a joke

They done the crime, They should do the time regardless of their age, I think anyone over 13 knows the difference between right and wrong, Clearly in extreme cases like this they certainly need proper punishment.

They message to them is you can virtually murder someone and get away with it.

But most of the time these are gangs operating to make dirty money for other activities, it's not just about one guy selling dvd to make a living. This could be organised crime and hence a severe sentence.

But the sentence in this case is a joke though, the last part of the article:

Judge Geake said he had taken into account the attackers’ ages, remorse and the fact they had pleaded guilty.

Remorse? What remorse? Are u telling me they didn't know what they were doing in the first place was wrong? Absolute joke.

Nah these were about 4 lads doing 4 boot sales, copying the dvds at home (the police got all the gear). Never any suggestion of anything else, and even if there were, they should have only been sentenced on what they were charged with.
I'm not saying they shouldn't have gone to jail, and that was only one example of many many people going to jail I could have picked, my point was, the justice system is saying that copying & selling dvds is worse than the offence here. that can't be right and no wonder people have no faith in it.

I find this quite hard to believe - very few people have been given such long sentences for counterfeiting DVDs in the UK, and those who have tend to have done so on a mass (factory) scale - have you a link to the specific case(s), as surely it would be publicised in at very least the local press.

It's all about what affects the tax man the most.

If the system is losing out financially long term jail sentence.

Better off hurting or murdering a person rather than ripping off the govt (_;)

We need Harry Brown to sort them out.

Sounds a pretty unlikely sentence unless they were repeat offenders, did it whilst on bail, etc. Must be more to it than 4 otherwise upstanding men were sent down for selling some dodgy DVDs.

Indeed. For a start, it must have gone to a crown court, which 'selling DVDs at a car-boot fair' wouldn't unless a) they were selling thousands or were repeatedly caught or b) they were 'copying the DVDs at home' on a mass scale, using dozens of copiers and pirating tens of thousands of discs; this is organised crime.

can't find a link, but plenty of people go to jail for it. Obviously it was quite large scale as they were selling at 4 different boot sales, I still don't see how it is worse than the crime here.
Heres a link to someone who recently got jail for dvds.
Further down the page is a case where someone got 6 months for recording a film in a cinema. The judge accepted there was no financial gain. You cannot say that is worse than whats happened here? Yet if you look at the sentencing alone you would think the guy who took a camcorder to the pictures and uploaded the film to the internet had committed a far worse crime.

Surprised the Daily Mail didn't report it as 'Brave boys punished for taking on DLA scrounger!'.
