As above really, if you have done this, have you actually seen a noticeable difference to you fuel bills?

I'm pretty sure the only real financial savings would be comparable if you were on dual fuel paying with direct debit, otherwise there would be very little difference.

have you checked uSwitch and service reviews for each supplier?

i moved from british gas to scottish bout 2 years ago we are on prepayment meter and did notice a saving, a small one

Thanks, just wanted a quick check really. I had a salesman round telling me it's 12% less, blah blah blah. But am on that new scheme with BG where you pay monthly for exactly what you have used, and I like the idea that I'm not paying through the nose when I don't need to be OR that I get hit with a massive bill at the end of a year.

Wanted to know if anyone had done the switch and noticed a big difference

NEVER listen to what a stranger on your doorstep tells you. I always tell them that I use USwitch to find the cheapest provider. Remember - the doorstep callers are (nearly all) working on commission, so they want your signature.

do it online yourself and you get casback too, last time i switched i got £70

Electricity prices vary from region to region due to the deregulation of the gas and electricity boards, this basically means that there are rules set out to make sure that there is fair competition across the board. So what may be cheaper for somebody in London may not necessarily be cheaper for somebody in the Midlands for example. Your best off looking into, the companies involved, unit rates, direct debit and dual fuel discounts and such like, certain comparison websites also work on commission so may promote other companies over others.

i switched my electric from british gas to scottish power last year and it's made a huge difference. british gas wanted to charge me £60 (!!!!) a month for electricity and with scottish power i'm paying £40 a month now, so much better

I switched from another arogant company .............NPOWER after my economy 7 meter went faulty and I was getting large bills .NPOWER blamed the night storage heaters and told me to get an electrician to tale a look at them . I switched to SCOTISH POWER and they sent a chap out to fit a new dual meter . Everything fine and cheaper lecky bills .
SP , recommended .

I switched to scottish power and I have to say that their customer service is brilliant. They are so polite and don't rush me off the phone. I got an energy monitor from them and if I make a 10% reduction on my energy bills, they will give me £10 back so they do offer incentives.

Been with BG and never again!!

Oops...that is British Gas and not to be confused with BG1!!! lol

I have just switched to Scottish Power which a comparison showed is cheaper than EDF and also got £120 cashback from top cashback for switching!! Being as gas was only £120 for the year I am quids in!!!

I switched from Npower (terrible customer service, never answered the phone) to Scottish Power online energy 2 years ago, and have never regretted it. Its waay cheaper and when I checked withUswitch recently, still came out the best! Still worth checking frequently though, as energy prices are starting to fall.
