Anyone traded / sold a mobile phone at cex.co.uk? Help req'd please!

    Hi,

Looking for advice on cex website.

I have a phone that is branded Virgin (has the software installed).

    Trade in price is £52.

However the same phone unlocked is £82.

Now the phone is unlocked, but what price do I get for it? Is it classed as Virgin or unlocked (as it's both)?

Anyone had any experience of this? If so, what was your phone classed as?

    Cheers

I had this and they paid for unlocked.

If your phone is unlocked, they will find out when they check the handset by trying different sims so you will get the higher price.

Will you be going instore or posting? If your going instore let them know the handset is unlocked when getting a price for them of take in a copy of the page from their website with this info. If you are going online then select the unlocked price as an option.

I've only ever taken a phone instore and they will run their diagnostics to make sure its ok and also to check its not a stolen handset. They also have different categories for condition, A, B and C, watch out on that as they tried to say one of my handsets was a B as it had a 'blemish' but I showed them another they had on display that was marked A and was just the same so they let me have the higher price!

    Cheers guys.

I'd be going instore. Thing is the phone is a refurb (looks mint(, has a white generic box (no fancy packaging), comes with headphones and charger.

The phone has no memory card (unsure if this is included when new), or a manual (which I know should be included).

It's a Sony Ericsson w580i W (white). Will they downgrade this based on the above?

    Cheers.

I not 100% sure if the box would be an issue but if the phone is in A1 condition then I wouldn't worry about that too much. They will grade the handset down if there are any accessories missing. Again, I wouldn't worry too much about the memory card as the majority of phones won't have these but you could do with a manual as without it they list the phone as a B I'd have thought! It does depend on the person you deal with how much they will or will not take off!!

Will be classed as class B or C without a box i'm afraid. Certainly won't be class A
