Taking the car for some tyres at wilko motor save tomorrow and they are putting on 2 Event tyres Rated B/C.

Seems ok for the money at £50 each fitted for 17" wheel.

Reviews of Event tyres can be found here; if you know the model number you can check for them.

For similar money you can get Nexen N6000 tyres from a German internet supplier; they are SUPERB

Tyres need changing right away or I would of had a look at these. One has a slow puncture and they are both down to the markers. Only just had two put on the front last week. Different brand which are not available now for some reason.

Had I known all 4 wanted changing I could of saved 5%.

event tyres, avoid where possible.

Whys that?

Shocking that a tyre fitter didn't check all four while you were there last week. Standard practice at every tyre place I've used.
One for them to make further sales, but also for your safety.

I know tell me about it. Local mechanic said front tyres needed changing after he replaced a cracked water bottle and I had concerns about vibration. So we booked in at national tyres through tyre shopper. They never said anything either.

Not great i stopped selling them the tend to feather on the edges giving a vibration or drone. Try nexen theyre good

A pity you dont know what you are on about.

I put on some no-name budget tyres a few years ago, I had a nail in the sidewall and they were out of my usual brand, so I took a risk.
To be fair, they felt and worked fine in the dry, but the day after they were fitted it rained, and they turned my car into a death trap; I couldnt pull out of a junction on the flat without them losing traction, and on a hill junction they literally just lit up and spun with the car still stationary.

And we are talking an ancient rear wheel drive MPV with 250K on the clock.

I very carefully drove back to the garage and had them taken off.

There ARE decent budget tyres out there, but it is finding them, the garages dont like to stock them because they make more money off of the really cheap and nasty, and the more expensive tyres, and fitting cheap sets can cost you more than a mid priced pair, as they dont last very long.

The link I posted before is VERY useful, I wouldnt have risked the Nexens without finding it, and boy am I glad I did, they grip like anything, I havent needed my snow boots for the last two winters because they work so well, and they have enough tread left to last this winter and probably through to the summer.
