Apple Mac Book Pro - Where to buy?

Can anyone give me any tips on how I may get an Apple Mac cheaper than advertised at an Apple Store?

I am after a 15-inch: 2.66GHz which retails at £1,712.00

Many thanks

Nope, best you'll get is a freebie and that won't be anything special.

Ocassionally I have had them price match though, but TBH Education discount is the way to go if your after a brand new machine thats just been updated/released. Or you could hang around for a bit and wait for them to appear in the refurb store, but even then they aren't far off the Education Prices.

Thanks again.

Think i'll go down the education route, what kind of check do they do to make sure you are a legit student?

The best discount is with the Higher Education store, and for that you'd need to be on a University network...

How strict are they at verifying that you are a current student?

not at all,I have never been a student in my life, and have ordered at least 3 laptops from them without question,as have many of my friends

Thanks boothy! Thats great news.

I have no experience of Macs, would you say this option is the correct choice?

looks good,

couple of points:

unless you are doing heavy duty stuff like film processing, the hard drive upgrade is not really worth it TBH,it will also delay the delivery time by about two weeks as it is a custom build from Apple in China

Consider the Apple remote, essential if you are watching video as it works as a media centre remote with front row(front row is pretty redundant without it`)also controls dvd, quick time etc

Also Applecare is VITAL you are ok for a year but for the price you get it for its a no brainer on such an expensive purchase,I had about £1000 of work done on a near 3 year old macbook a few months ago for nothing

Also think about a mobile me membership, backs everything up automatically(do some research to see if its for you)

Anything else drop me a line

Seeing as you're being pedantic, I too will be the same. PC is a generic term, commonly used to describe a Windows box but in fact stands for personal computer which is the business Apple are in. An Apple Mac is a personal computer, the same as a Dell is for example.

Feeling even more pedantic, you might have been under a rock when Apple were plugging their "Apple vs PC" adverts.

They did but the correct none branded description for an Apple Mac is a PC, they are personal computers. You know I'm right no matter how you try to twist it.

Bit of a long shot, but does anyone have a new version of the higher education link?

Cheers
