Apple Macbook 2.4Ghz 2008 Best Price?

Found 16th Dec 2008
I trying to find the best deal (ideally instore) for the new Apple Macbook 2.4Ghz. The best price so far that I can personally find is £977.88 at Dixons Tax Free as I would be able to pick this up from the airport on 24th Dec.

Does anyone know where I can get a better or similar price?

Thanks for any help!

If you are/know anyone who is a student at Uni, the education price for the standard 2.4Ghz is £967.15.. Not much difference tbh. Doubt you'll find cheaper than that.

Are these the new aluminimum ones?

You could save approx 6% if you know someone who works in the NHS?

Oh right so it's the older model. Still a good price for this model?

You're probably right; hence the lower price.

These are the old models, not even sold by Apple anymore (- they are selling the 2.1Ghz models with EDU discount for around £700)

I would suggest that this is not a good price..

I prefer the newer model anyway since it doesn't really cost that much more for a decent laptop.

If I purchased the laptop with a friends NUS card, I persume that the warranty will also be in his/her name?

I believe the warranty is against the machine, not the purchaser. If you ever have to take it in/call up for repairs, you quote the serial number, not your name. Besides, the first thing you do when you turn on a new Apple machine is fill in your details and register it - so it will be registered to you, not your friend.
Btw - to buy with the best EDU discount you need to be on JANET (i.e, on campus) You can't buy in store with an NUS card. Perhaps your friend can take you to his/her IT lab at college/uni and let you place the order from one of those machines?

Ah right thanks for the tip ... I assume that it will be delivered if I order it through my friends Uni systems?

Yeah. It will be sent via, usually UPS I believe. As it's a courier then you shouldn't suffer too much from the slow postage we are all getting atm...
