Applecare question?

Ok, so I have applecare up until the middle of March. Recently I noticed that there's a slight crack on my 3gs right where the charger goes. Obviously this has happened due to constant charging and pulling the charger out too quickly every time when in a rush etc. I've had a cover on it since day one, so don't really have any other explanation as to why it would crack on the back. Anyways, would this damage be covered under applecare? Or is it just faults rather than personal damage? My brother just sent his in for a speaker problem, and the turn around was 2 days which is very impressive, so thought I might send it in before my warranty duly runs out.


Sorry that was so long winded, but would like some advice off you experienced HUKDealers out there.

mine was cracked very slightly at the dock took it into apple store on appt and got it replaced there and then 5 mins in shop!

It's a known fault, take it to an apple store and they should give you a replacement there and then.

Cheers for the replies guys. Do you reckon they'll still be ok with me sending it off, rather than going in person? Manchester is an hour away from me, and that's my nearest store.

Good point numptyj, but it's kind of a hard issue to explain without seeing the phone. It's pretty much a 3cm hairline crack! Might as well make the most of the applecare if I can...

Phone them up and see what they say.
I spoke to someone called Deen at Apple today, I hope you don't get him as he was rude and not nice at all.
Be aware it's 5p/minute and they kept me on the phone for an hour until I got fed up and asked to be called back, to which I was told they *might * call me back.
If you do go in store, book an appointment before you go.

as others have said it seems to be a normal issue with the 3gs so if you call them up I guess they check your details to make sure you have applecare etc and you just explain the issue, im sure it will be ok but obvs they will give you a definite answer

Ok no worries, again thanks for your help. I'm pretty clueless in terms of knowing what's covered under this 'applecare' system.
