Applying for Indian Visa

Found 14th Jan 2010
tomorrow i am going to be applying for our indian visas. been reading the FAO and it says about sending in addressed special delivery envelopes with yr applications, for yr passport to be returned to you, thing is i wouldnt be able to get these pre paid as the item would been to be weighed before sending, so on that hand i would just send the addressed SD bags. fair enoough, but then the website mentions your passports being sent by the offices own courier, at my cost.
has anyone recently sent off for a visa, who could advise? ty

You need a visa for America? I thought you could go for up to 90 days without one?!
ty both
thats lot of postage jason, i think i see on the indian website 7.95 for theirs, yet i know SD for a passport would only be 5.20
I worked for a travel company who specialised in India Travel, they would just send the documents with a pre paid special delivery envelopes/bags and this was OK, and the passports and visa would be return in the, a PP goes in a £4.95 bag (correct). If you really concerned about this doing it this way you can use a Visa specialist company but then you going to pay a fee for them to handle as they send a representative to the VIsa office and load the application on a USB stick and get processed almost instantly. Althought this comes at cost you have the peace of mind that it is going to get processes correctly, as the India Embassy is famed for its Long Q's and then retunr applications because your forgot to put the name and address on your contact in Visa. Also they ask you stupis q's like occupations, but will not accept retired even if you... so you have to put in your occupation before you retired... I go go on but will stop here .... the choice is your but the PP @ £4.95 will work, just make sure your application is ship shape!

This also applies for a tourist Visa, just put the name of your first hotel you staying at in Visa or the name of the Ground Handler in India.
